Discussion: Meditation and the Mind

The mind, and our perceptions of it, can be an incredible tool for spiritual development... and it can also be a challenge.  Cayce says...

"The subconscious mind is both consciousness and thought or spirit-consciousness. Hence may be best classified, in the physical sense, as a habit." 266-10

"The time has arisen in the earth when men--everywhere--seek to know more of the mysteries of the mind, the soul, the soul's mind which man recognizes as existent, yet has seen little of the abilities of same." 254-52

"That builded by thought and deed becomes the active particles, atoms, that make up that soul body, see?" 5756-4

"Thoughts are things, and they have their effect upon individuals, especially those that become supersensitive to outside influences. These are just as physical as sticking a pin in the hand." 386-2

"Remember, the soul never forgets.  For it is eternal." 2425-1

This will, no doubt, be yet another lively and interesting discussion!  Have you learned different types of meditation?  Do you pray?  Talk to God?  What about the power of dreams?  Share you experiences with us :)

These discussions are now potluck lunches.  Make sure to check the discussion below for the current menu.

I will also post a video chat link in the discussion area, for those that would rather telecommute :P

We all learned so much new information. I have belonged to the ARE since 1969 so I am very impressed when I am exposed to new ideas. It was fantastic

When I learn something new, it is amazing and I have shared so much of your information with my study Group members. It was really good.

Sean, my neighbor and study member wants to join but she does not know how to register for this group.

Incredible! First time there and it was much more than I had expected. I am going to make this monthly meeting a priority in my life even though I drive over 45 miles one way to attend.

This discussion series isn't currently meeting in Fairfax, but other Cayce events are an option... like the meetup on the 28th at Unity of Fairfax. The reason that these discussion meetups are limited to MD is because I'm hosting them at my house :) I find that, for discussions, there is no better location than a comfortable living room.

I will try to come. I live in Northwest Baltimore. Is there anyone else from Baltimore who would like to go with me? Are we supposed to bring food?

    April 8, 2013

    • Sean

Yup, we've made this discussion series into a potluck lunch. It's very informal, though. Just check the comment thread to get an idea of what is already on the menu.

I live in Reston, VA. Hyattsville is bit too far for me. Do you guys have any plan for meetings in NOVA?

    March 27, 2013

    • Matthew B.

Actually, I will be driving there from Reston. It's not that bad. Carpool?

These discussion meetings are currently hosted in MD, but there are other meetings held in VA, like the Cayce events at the UU churches. I also make video chat available, if folks want to attend the chat remotely.

I live in Leesburg, MD location is bit too far. Do you have a group in VA?

    April 8, 2013

    • Sean

So far, the discussion meetings are hosted in MD, but other types of meetings can occur in VA... for example, the UU churches frequently host Cayce events, and we'll have those on the calendar. Also, I will have video chat available for the discussions :)

I don't think I can make this one. Sean, I am still receiving notifications from all other meetups but this one. Just wondering why. If it can't be fixed, I will keep checking here. Thanks.

Hmmm... from my end, all I do is select "email all members". It might be a technical issue with the website. I'll double check to make sure you aren't blocked in the settings.
