TITLE: Business Craftsmanship

SPEAKER: Tobias Mayer

Details of talk:

Business Craftsmanship offers a different way to consider organizational transformation. Moving away from thecomputomorphic view that an organization is a system and must be (re)engineered, it begins with the idea that an organization is simply a community of citizens, who’d like to live in harmony with one another in order to make the whole community a prosperous and pleasurable place. Business Craftsmanship blends sound business practices with community values and principles to offer an holistic approach to meaningful transformation.
For the SVForum Engineering Leadership SIG presentation, Tobias will focus specifically on a set of five values considered essential for an individual to begin this transformation.

About the Speaker:

Tobias Mayer has a background in software development, publishing, theatre arts, and community service work. Since 2004 he has worked as a change agent, trainer and facilitator, providing coaching and consulting services to teams and organizations wishing to make a transition to more agile, trustful and team-centered ways of working. A long-term blogger and essayist, Tobias has been interviewed on two occasions by InfoQ, and has an Executive Update featured in the February 2013 edition of Cutter Magazine. His essay collection, Agile on the Edge will be published by Dymaxicon in March 2013.
