IT WebMaker train the trainer, Free 1 day course 20th of July.

This one day course is for anyone new to IT and Digital

making or for people who want to develop their skills.

Overview:

The important thing to note about IT is that it is never as hard as you might think. IT is based entirely on logic, creativity and procedural processes that can be amended by every individual yet still ending up with the required outcome, for instance, we each have our own way of making a cup of tea or filling the dishwasher.

It is not the case that we cannot make with IT, but rather people imagine it to be too complex and out of their reach.  However the industry “Secret” we would like to share with you is that IT is all about “Making and Crafting” first, through using simple processes that allow you to find your own level of expertise in our digital world, from blogging to coding.

The key in each case is being allowed and given the freedom to try having a go, as a way to both share with others and express ourselves in this media, in the process possibly even surprising ourselves at what we already can make.

Objectives:

  • To demystify Computer Science and coding.

  • To enable participants to develop a system on how to use digital media to engage people in digital making as a first step that works for them in their own setting.

  • To enable participants to plan and structure an effective digital maker event.

  • To enable participants to know how to establish credibility and relate to their audience despite not being an IT person.

  • To enable participants to feel confident in handling and dealing with questions they feel unable to answer, including a “jargon buster”.

  • Practice sessions to play, test and put into practice what has been learnt in readiness for the Kent Scouts International Jamboree part of our Kent Festival of Code week August 2nd - 11th.

  • Earn a Mozilla WebMaker badge by completing the course.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
