Kids love technology, in some sense they have no choice but to love it, my now 9 year old was stealing my iPhone when she was 2, so we bought her an iPad and then the list goes on... But what we also did was to make sure she was exposed to the "Maker Culture" a culture that values what you the individual is interested in and whats in your head. She as a result is now starting to lead VR 3D Art Tilt Brush sessions and also plays the Piano (currently doing grade 3) as part of her ongoing "Creative Education" we tailored to her needs and based on her topic interests.
My 9 year old loved first Minecraft and then Art and now digital Art with Tilt Brush, she describes it as Minecraft for Artists!
I am the community manager for EPIK and I also do HR for ionCube.com. I am also the producer of the Youth Zone at MozFest (Mozilla Festival) responsible for our ongoing efforts to have more "Youth led" sessions at the festival
Mozilla festival Youth Zone producer & recruiter of "Youth Led" sessions. helping parents & teachers identify aptitude in youth aged 7+ by looking at their passions be it in coding, music, art or being obsessed with MineCraft & Lego, it all adds up!
Great way to meet people and share our skills by helping our kids progress from gamers to makers and maybe learning something new too! :)
