My name is James and I am not only a "Prepper" but I am an Emergency Preparedness, Security, Survival, and Self-Reliance Instructor/Trainer.
I ended a 23-year career working for a federal agency (Security contract) where I was a Federal Security Officer, Trainer and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. I just moved back to Lafayette and have started a small Consulting and Training business; for anyone who wishes to be more informed and self-reliant.
Classes will be conducted primarily on the weekends; and are limited to 10-people each; the presentation is both informal (open discussion) and very informative, with each session lasting about 4-hours.
Typically, multiple topics will be discussed in session, but depending on the subject-matter, the entire time may be dedicated to one specific topic.
I will begin the classes with basic-preparedness, to include:
Why everyone should be prepared? (scenarios that may affect all of us)
INFOSEC, OPSEC, and PERSEC: What do these acronyms mean? / Why are they important to everyone?
Survival and Preparedness mindset (Sheep, Sheepdogs and Wolves)
Deciding when it is appropriate to bug-out (evacuate), or bug-in (shelter-in-place)
"Survival by the Numbers"
"Show-N-Tell", basic equipment to have with you (I'll show you my basic gear, you bring yours, and we will discuss the advantages/disadvantages and best-practices)
Long-term food storage
The team vs. individual concept
More advanced training will include:
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification
Primitive fire-making and fire safety
Water Purification Methods
Navigation with map and compass
Knot Tying, Lashing and general rope work
Hand tools, edged weapons, firearms, etc. (selecting what is best for YOU)
Team selection process and building your team
Security-Operations is having a plan and mind-set for keeping you, your loved-ones and your "stuff" safe and secure
My goal is to train as many people as possible, so the fees are VERY reasonable!!
