The off road club Abu Dhabi 4X4 http://www.ad4x4.com/club/ will have their opening season party for this year and they are looking for max 10 confident photographers to cover the event and join the party afterwards where they will be offered free food, beverages and a lot of fun.
We will announce the assembling point later where AD4X4 drivers will meet us and drive us to the previously specified GPS coordinates where we will get a chance to shoot 150+ fully equipped 4X4 cars passing or jumping around that point.
No 4X4 is required! only a camera and your preferred lens
The only catch here is that every photographer has to share the photos with AD4X4 club.

Just to give you a quick update on the day and the event and the part you will play!
I would like to first of all say a HUGE thank you to all for joining in this event, it is absolutely appreciated and we sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as our club members.
The event is the season opening party for AD4x4 and for this we arrange a number of offroad trips of varying levels (degrees of difficulty) in the desert all of which culminate at the venue for the main party, which is held this year at one of the tourism camps. The camp is in an area called Al Khatim just outside of Abu Dhabi. What we would like to do is have some action shots and coverage of the day’s offroad trips and the evening party. We will have about 250 people attending the event all of whom are members, family and friends of the club.
For the trips – we (the organising committee) will scout out some good photographic locations and share the GPS waypoints with the leaders for the trips. We will request that the trip leaders navigate their trip as close as possible to these waypoints during their trip, between 3pm and 4.30.
For the photographers - We have allocated drivers from the club (senior competent drivers) to take you to these waypoints to shoot the action; you will be in 2s and 3s. At about 4.00/4.15 we will make our way back to the camp. During the shoot we will make sure you have water and are safe, out of harms way, please do not worry about this.
Transport - The camp itself is not directly accessible by ‘normal’ car but there is plenty of parking by the road. I will share the details of the location in the week so you can arrange yourselves, I would suggest a convoy is easiest, select a meeting point in Dubai and then all drive collectively from there, it will probably take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic! I unfortunately cannot lead you as I will probably be at the camp much earlier in the day. Please arrange to be there by[masked]pm latest. We will meet you there and take you to the photography waypoints and then the camp and back to your cars after the event.
Equipment – Of course you will need your camera, As for lenses – don’t bring you most expensive zoom lens please! If there is any wind it will pick up sand and you will get it on/in your lenses! Please make sure you have a UV filter on your lens to protect it. You are all experienced photographers but if you need any advice please don’t hesitate to ask me! Unless you want to do any long exposure shots later in the evening you won’t need your tripod or shutter release. I would recommend bringing your flash for the evening photography, there are flood lights at the camp and may be an extra batteries for both camera and flash, I would rather you be over prepared than under. We will have some water with us in the cars, if you want anything else please bring it, There will be limited space in the ferrying cars so no big bags of drinks and equipment please! You may want to throw in a jumper/fleece or some description; it can get cold at night…. You will be our guest for dinner, which will be provided in the camp.
Photo Format – for the daytime action shots we would like to make an immediate slide show of some of the shots (we do understand that they will be ‘out of camera’ and not processed, this is fine,) if you can please shoot these in Jpeg, when you return to the camp we will quickly copy the shots to prepare the slideshow. We will have a memory card reader for this purpose and laptop so please don’t worry. If you want to shoot in RAW format for later processing this is up to you! For the evening coverage we are happy to receive these at a later date in Jpeg so please use whichever format you are comfortable with.
After the event – we would like to share the photos as soon as possible so if we could please set a deadline to receive the final Jpegs by the 12th November. Photos can be shared to me by any method, fileshare, dropbox etc.
Please have fun on the day and enjoy the event!
