The spirits in the marshes are discovered to be man made--someone is trying to scare off the general populous from something beyond the delta of Saltmarsh.
The direct assault on the hidden cove caused some rethinking by the party--and some new information supplied by Johnny Fingers' connections suggest that there is another way in.
An old abandoned mansion is located atop the cliff face set back from the ocean, and it too seems to have an air of a haunted nature. Deathly still, no wind, no insect and no sign of life of any kind greet the party as they come upon this manse.
Patrolling the grounds are canine type hounds similar to those found at the quarry, but with a saurian coat in place of the skinned, hairless look of the previously encountered beasts.
Swarms of unearthly creatures are encountered within--and in an attempt to burn them en-mass the group reduces the entire manor to a smouldering cinder, excepting only the stone walls on the bottom floor.
Within the rubble the party descends to the subterranean cellar below where a pair of children are imprisoned with enchanted chains. They learn of someone called the Mancaster, directing some nefarious experiments involving alchemy and transformation.
Beneath even this the party discovers rough-hewn tunnels leading to a vast cavern and what appears to be a lake of blood. As the final scenes close on the night a giant golem of flesh and blood rises up to block further progress.
