Eagle River Camera Club March Meeting

Topic for this month: Critiquing Photographs

We'll start the meeting with a short discussion on how to critique your own photographs and work by other photographers.  Next we'll look at critique work by famous photographers, past and current.  After we've warmed up by looking at published work, we'll critique photographs provided by club members.

Bring two or three (no more) photographs you would like critiqued.  These could be images you're struggling with or those you're finished processing.  We'll initially look at each image without knowing whose work it is.  You should consider avoiding images that you've watermarked

Also consider bringing some snacks or finger food to share with the group.

As this was only my second meeting, I was very gratified to network with a fellow member who had remembered a few of my photography related visions; such as I try to shoot occasionally with real film and my desire for a real film and enlarger darkroom.
The crux of tonight's meeting was "image critique". It went rather well as tonight's leader layed-out a few rules and encouraged us to be "frank" with our comments.
In a group of 14, it is not as easy for everyone to have their full say, but most often I learn more when I am not talking and that was the case tonight. So, the format worked well.
There were many useful composition and lighting conversations along with examples of images that had been "Photoshoped".
The leader was very well prepared and I look foreward to the April Meeting ... Bob

Two separate individuals have asked for the March Meeting location. As I am new, I need to verify this for each meeting also.
I think the meeting locaton is located right under the meeting date and there are directions below the studio name ___ Gutierrez Photography --- Eagle River ...
    ALSO:
It is suggested to bring 3 photographs to be critiqued, snacks to share and maybe a folding chair ...

Your home page is great, but there is no location for the meeting noted, nor telephone contact numbers for questions etc.

On the left is a "Contact" link taking you to a page where you can email both Marco and Mark. You can also try emailing one of the organizers listed just above the "Contact" link.

I'm guessing we should probably bring a chair or two?

It's a good idea to bring a folding chair. We only have seating for 10 people.

Sorry but I have to change my RSVP. I work downtown in Anchorage and wouldn't be able to make on time. I am looking forward for the next meet up

I don't know if this is ok to put here. I for some reason can't send Marco a message. I'm not sure how.
But there is a class being offered. And I'm kinda curious if its a good class for beginners to take http://www.dennismammana.com/AK2013Workshops

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
