I guess I have an issue with paying money to help someone with my labor. But, I'm very open to volunteering for events like this with my time and muscles free of charge.

Oh, and I don't mean to sound unappreciative, I'm a really nice person, but I wanted to honestly let you know why I won't attend.

I completely understand Crystal. No worries though, we will have more events that are free of charge :)

Why the $25.00? Shouldn't the labor justify the training? That is if their is any needed?

Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure. I've organized the event here for our Meetup group, but Mike Wird from Denver Earthship and Chris Rizer are hosting this event. They have been organizing this with Denver Earthship so shoot Mike an email at [masked] - he should be able to give you a definitive reason for the fee. When I started this group I didn't want to charge for workshops, but quickly realized... as long as I'm using other people's events to present workshops for everyone, I don't get to make the choice regarding fees. Not all workshops will charge; for instance your workshop in June is a free workshop and everyone that will attend will be very grateful. In the future I will definitely make an effort to provide free workshops, but events we piggy back off of where I'm not the host, again I have no control over the charges they seek. The tire workshop May 11th will be a free event.

Also, if it came down to it, I'm sure you could work something out with Mike if money is tight; we all have bills to pay. I do believe it is a sliding scale, but remember the fee goes toward supplies and in general, providing the workshop for the community. I know Mike Wird is setting up workshops to teach people how to build Earthships and give them hands on experience to push Denver Earthship as the growing business it is. Think of it like a permaculture course. Where as they might charge $2,000+ for a week long permaculture course. This obviously isn't as official as the Earthship Biotecture Academy, but for $20 - $25 if you have a lower skill level, it could be valuable money spent to learn the Earthship basics at one of these small workshops.

This is going to be a really fun one. Good location and we'll have a nice little bonfire afterward.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
