Jamie Owens, a member of the Earthship Steering Committee, explained how to make bottle bricks from plastic bottles stuffed with clean plastic wrappers, bags, etc. The group brainstormed various short-term projects aimed at promoting awareness of bottle brick building methods and recycling education including:
      · Demonstrations at Farmer’s Markets
      · Interactive school programs
      · Using bottle bricks to build small structures such as compostable outhouses Jamie Owens also expressed an interest in putting together a press package that can be delivered to various celebrities, businesses or private donors who may be interested in being involved with funding or promoting future Earthship Seattle projects. Potential donors mentioned in the meeting included:
      · Bill and Melinda Gates
      · Macklemore
      · Local Organic Farms
      · Vulcan Enterprises (Paul Allen)

The group debated the benefits and feasibility of taking a communal road trip to Taos, New Mexico to visit the Earthship crew and see an array of Earthship structures in person. Jon Gosch expressed interest in organizing such a trip sometime in September. He can be contacted [masked]. Florian Becquereau listed the challenges of organizing Earthship Seattle as a non-profit organization and encouraged participants to assign themselves tasks, fill existing work voids, and take leadership positions. Areas that need extra attention at this time include:
      · Developing website content
      · Answering emails
      · Participating in the online forum
      · Researching municipal and county codes relating to Earthship construction
      · Grant writing
      · Community outreach

Push comes to shove we can have it at my apartment, I guess. We could probably fit 20-30 people in relative comfort. I live in North Seattle so not too far away.
