Hello. I am new to this group. I have a question or two. I RSVP already but I am wondering how much will I need to pay to attend this class? I could not find the prices on the Sage table site. Second, If I am not able to make the date and time, is there a cancellation fee? How much of a notice should I give? Since the date and time is not provided I cannot be 100 percent sure that I can make it. I only RSVP because I figured the class might get full fast. Thank you for your time.

And one more, not sauces but spices! DIY Curry Powder Blending Workshop!

Curry powder is a spice mix of widely varying composition based on South Asian cuisine. Most curry powder recipes include coriander, turmeric, cumin, fenugreek, and chili peppers in their blends. Depending on the recipe, additional ingredients such as ginger, garlic, asafoetida, fennel seed, caraway, cinnamon, clove, mustard seed, green cardamom, black cardamom, nutmeg, long pepper, and black pepper may also be included. Quality curry powder will contain curry leaf.

We will learn about spices and toasting and tempering them. Also understanding the balance of taste and flavors of the spices, and building a simple blend is a key take away from this class.

Join us on Apr 19 Sun 3-5pm in SF (details to be included in confirmation). Sign up here:

Then I'll share one cooking class info coming up in Apr, Kombucha Brewing Workshop! Making Kombucha can be as easy as making your own soda - except you won't need a fancy soda machine. Join us in Emeryville! Sign up here: Have you heard of Kombucha, the beverage the ancient Chinese called the “Immortal Health Elixir?” It’s been around for more than 2,000 years and has a rich anecdotal history of health benefits like improving digestion, boosting energy and helping your immune system. It is made from sweetened tea that’s been fermented by a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast (a SCOBY, a.k.a. “mother” because of its ability to reproduce, or "mushroom" because of its appearance). By brewing your own Kombucha, you save money that would be otherwise spent on commercially produced Kombucha and get to play around with your favorite flavors! * Participants will receive a Kombucha Brewing Kit including a SCOBY, starter liquid and an illustrated "how to" guide.

Hi All, while we are waiting for the reply from Dara, would you mind if I share some info on cooking classes in East Bay, mostly Berkeley, Alameda and Emeryville?

    April 9

  • Geoff L.

Ok, just to keep everyone in the loop, I just emailed Dara/organizer to see if she is still up for this, as so many of us seem to want this to happen. I also offered assistance, as I'm sure many of you are willing to also. So let's see if she responds, on the off chance she doesnt, maybe someone else may want to take charge.

Really curious as to when/where this may happen, want to attend, but don't want to flake out, Karen, great question, has anyone tried contacting Dara, the organizer? I hope she's ok.....

This sauce class has been advertised for months and people are signing up in hopes that someone will take it on. Now we have 59 people interested. That is way too many to have a class with.
Who started this idea anyway? It's a good topic but no leaders.

I can host events at my home in Orinda, but only 8 inside. I see there are already 57 signed up for this, in which case it would have to be an outdoor event (We can accommodate about 30 outside and have two bar-b-ques (both with side-burners), but that's only two sauces at a time. I'm open to suggestions. April 25th (or sometime this summer) would work for us.

i am SO looking forward to the next event, HOPE to meet as many as possible of you!!
