This event is hosted by the track. Park at the main gates.
  • This is the second opportunity to attend a Photo Day at Golden Gate Fields.  I attended this event last year and had a ton of fun. There is a lot of walking around and the weather changes from morning to afternoon, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to hike around a good bit.

The morning portion is an orientation and a chance to shoot the morning workouts, then there was a break from about 10:30 to 1:00 when the real tour started. We were finished by about 3:30.

Note that this event is hosted by the track. TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED FROM THE TRACK. THEY USUALLY SELL OUT, SO BUY YOUR TICKETS ASAP. THE COST IS $27.95 (INCLUDING FEES)

    Purchase your all-access ticket here.

Dine on a buffet breakfast, snap photos of morning workouts, and meet jockeys, trainers, and horses. Finally, gain exclusive access to snap photos in the paddock, shoot the horses as they break from the gate, and more.

The All-Access Photo Day Package includes admission and program for one, buffet breakfast, and a press credential to access morning workouts, special behind the scenes photo opportunities and the races.

I have a Nikon D7100, which has a DX sensor. Which focal length lenses do you think would work best? Will a 70-200 be OK for the telephoto stuff, or would my 70-300 be a better choice? Thanks for any feedback from anyone who has been to one of these events before.
