Introduction
I started photography in 2007 when I retired and was preparing for a trip to Africa. I enjoy the hobby as a means of creative expression and a wonderful way to explore areas of the world I haven't experienced.
Tell us about yourself: your name, location, what you like to photograph etc.
My name is Sheryl and I recently moved to Brentwood in December '10. I enjoy primarily landscapes and macro shots. I have a Nikon D300 and enjoy the 24-70 (f2.8) zoom lens, 12-24 (f4) lens, 105 macro (f2.8) and 70-300 lens. I enjoy travel photography and love to photograph nature, flowers and such.
Are you a hobbyist, part-timer, or full-time photographer?
Strictly hobbyist.
Are you interested in photography workshops?
Yes. I've taken several of Gale Perry's excellent workshops and recently went to Greece with Glenn Steiner (Discover the Real Greece). I'd like to work through EBDCG to attend additional local workshops held in the Bay Area.
What is your passionate area of photography? (Architectural, Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Fashion...)
Landscapes, Nature, Macro hold my interest. I'm really interested in the post-production techniques also. I primarily use Nikon's Capture NX2 because it is very intuitive compared to Adobe, but am discovering there aren't many classes available and everyone seems to use the Adobe.
