Here I am, living in another country, working and studying and learning about life in a different society. I've been to different ESL classes, done different types of work, and met many English learners. However, it has been very difficult to find a group of people to hang out. Sometimes, students have to go back to their countries after a short stay, not having time to develop a friendship. Other times, the ESL speakers that I meet are too busy with work or family. Also, sometimes, people already have friends from their own country or the same school, and don't want to branch out.
That's why I've created this page. This Meetup is a place where people who are just staying for a short time in the country can socialize easily. It's a place where busy people can schedule some time to hang out with other who might be going through the same process of acculturation. It's a place for people to make friends beyond their ethnic or academic community.
But, maybe more importantly, by doing new activities or learning about different cultures, we'll have fun!
Welcome people who speak Korean, Espanol, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi,Portuguese....please help me expand this list.
We might also have some friendly native English speakers join our conversations.
thanks,
