Big Sur Hot Springs, Contact Yoga and Thai Massage

Come join Anjuli and Alok on a truly epic 4-day trip into the Big Sur wilderness at the peak of spring beauty.  We will share the practices of Contact Dance, Partner Yoga, and Thai Massage in an idyllic setting along the Big Sur river under the redwoods.  This trip is guided and catered by Dashielle Vawter, director of Back to Earth Outdoors.

Anjuli Mahendra and Alok Rocheleau have developed a unique blend of  partner stretching, contact improvisation, acrobatics, and Thai massage. Contact Yoga brings people together to explore trust, playfulness, and truthful connection. Exercises will range from dynamic balancing to therapeutic touch. Practices move between structured conditioning to improvisational movement so that we can open to greater levels of joy, freedom and presence.

We regularly encourage woking with different partners, so bring friends or come meet new ones.  Couples will find new ways of communicating trust and loving-kindness, and together we can all find ways to be more harmonious and playful.

Our first day we will meet in Big Sur and begin the uphill hike to Barlow Flats where we will stay for 3 nights.  The second day we will take a day hike to Sykes Hot Springs and enjoy the natural hot mineral baths along the river.  Day 3 will be filled with relaxing and swimming in the Big Sur river, Contact Yoga, and communing with nature.  Day 4 will be a leisure morning in camp and hike out.  The hiking is intermediate with a challenging first day of 7 miles.  The day hike will be 6 miles out and back.

With the days getting longer as we approach the summer solstice there will be plenty of time for reflection, laughing around the fire, sharing delicious organic and local meals prepared with love, and learning about the ecology of Big Sur. Alok is also a seasoned naturalist and loves to share his knowledge of the area and primitive skills. Anjuli incorporates the elements of nature into her dance and awareness teaching, encouraging students to experience a deeper resonance with our environment.
