East Bay L.E.A.P.S. Monthly Meetup

  • Sep 19, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

At our monthly meetings, Lyme patients and their loved ones can meet to discuss the challenges faced in diagnosing, treating, and coping with Lyme disease and other tick-borne illness (including babesiosis, bartonella, and erlychiosis). In general, we do not discuss the political aspects of this controversial disease, but on occasion we take on special projects of political activism.

Come with your knowledge and compassion, a willingness to share your experience, and most importantly, to listen to others. LEAPS is a place where Lyme patients and their supporters can feel accepted in a constructive, nonjudgmental group setting and work toward healing.

Meeting Date: Third Thursday of the month.

Meeting Time: 6:00-8:00 PM

Meeting Location:
Kaiser Hospital-Oakland (Campus Map)
Mosswodd Building, Room 1171 / 1130A
3505 Broadway St, Oakland (Google Map)

Parking: Underneath the Mosswood Building or on nearby side streets.  Do NOT give your keys to the valet parking attendants.  Tell them you will be staying late.

Public Transportation: Free Kaiser Shuttle Bus from Oakland BART station to Kaiser Main Hosptial (Shuttle Bus Info).  You'll need to walk a block or two from the Main Hospital Building to the Mosswood Building.  Kaiser campus map here.

I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow Lyme disease friends. I hope that I will meet all of you at the next Oakland meeting.
I don't have any memory left, so if you can, please remind me of upcoming events and meetings.
    Thank you all.
    And bless you.

Thank you everyone for sharing your stories, struggles & successes last night. I've experienced a lot if ups & downs with Lyme & related complications & it was so comforting to know that I'm not alone on this path.... AND that I'm not crazy like many doctors led me to believe before I got diagnosed!!!!

I look forward to seeing you again next time.

I am trying to figure out ways to organize for the IDSA protest happening October 5 in SF. Does anyone from this group plan to attend? I want to make sure we are visible, organized, have material to hand out and that media will be present so that we get our message across. Does anyone have any input? Is this something we can discuss at the next meeting?

Thanks Justin. Sorry I got busy and didn't email folks. I will be at the meeting this Thursday. This will be my first time attending. Where exactly is the meeting? I know there was talk of a possible room change.

Hi Grace, we're in the Mosswood Building like normal this week. We're trying to make a permanent change to avoid the group next to us, but that hasn't happened yet. I posted some instructions above (below?) as a comment to the meetup announcement itself. Those should help you.

I hope you have a good time at your first meeting!

It occurred to me that we have a several new members coming to the meeting this month, so I put together this...

Our meeting is held in the Kaiser Mosswood building at 3505 Broadway St in Oakland. The building is immediately next to the highway. There are links to a google map and a Kaiser map in the meeting description above. They should get you there. Park under the building for free, and tell the valets that you'll be staying late so they don't take your keys from you. Take the elevator to the 11th floor.

The room number used to be 1171, but I think they changed it to 1130A, or possibly something else. Either way, just walk down the hallway to the left of the elevators. You'll pass the bathrooms on your left, and then a small office. The conference room is the next door on the left. If you walk in on a noisy group of Narcotics Anonymous people, you've gone one room too far! I hope that helps. Have a great meeting everyone!
