Not clear how long I have had this disease. Probably since the mid 1990's when I was living in Southern Californina and was exposed to a tick infestation where I was living. Many were found on my animals at the time. Myself and two children were bitten. My oldest son and I have had health issues ranging from diagnosis of IBS, fibromyalgia, + TMJ to an array of mental + psychological concerns we just cant seem to knock off. As though a big cloud looms over our heads, attacking at any given time. I find my personal list of symptoms are growing as I age. I was finally diagnosed in 2014 with positive labs from Igenex. I've been to more than 15 doctors over the past years ranging from regular Western docs to integrative medicine, but I am a firm believer in holistic care and do desire the most natural ways of treatment. I am currently treating with a Lyme literate medical doctor in Santa Rosa.
Right now I practice the Gerson Therapy and find much relief for the pain. "The Gerson Therapy is a natural treatment that activates the body’s extraordinary ability to heal itself through an organic, vegetarian diet, raw juices, coffee enemas and natural supplements." I have been on antiobiotics (doxycycline) and other meds that seem to make me much sicker, including a steriod for adrenal fatigue (which later I found out is poison for someone suffering with Lyme). I discontinued that protocol, as well as consults by that doctor. Back to square one... again, but I found a new physician and we are beginning ozone therapy along with diet, thyroid meds, and supportive supplements.
Like many others afflicted by this disease, I have had little help from the medical communities in getting the correct diagnosis and treatment. I want to continue gaining knowledge about this disease, where to find help, and meet people that I can share stories, treatments, and emotional support with.
Been a long road, but I seek to optimize my health by taking matters into my own hands after years of failed experiences wit health care practitioners. In 2008, I began to seriously look at ways to improve my declining health which leads me here.
Very helpful group of people that are willing to take the time to listen and offer sound advice.
