Mardi Gras, New Orleans & Creole with Michelle Jacques

Let's take a break from the holiday rush, and jam with friends!!!

We had such a great time here, that members were asking when we could go back.  Seating is limited, and available on a first come first served basis.

Armando's features the best of LIVE music including jazz, blues, bluegrass, folk and everything in between, everything except over-played typical bar rock and roll.

Located at 707 Marina Vista in Martinez, Armando's is an intimate, close to the music, get to know the performers, hot spot for local talent. Armando's is a cash-only music venue serving beer, wine, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Doors open at 7:30

The show is from 8:00 - 10:00

There is a $10.00 cover charge and tips are welcomed.

New Orleans native, MICHELLE JACQUES along some "very special friends" take the influences of jazz, funk, soul, Creole, Cajun, Gospel, Carribean, African, Zydeco, rock and the chants of Mardi Gras Indians and more, stir it into this stewpot of musical gumbo that is sweet, spicy, aromatic and definitely intoxicating.

Michelle Jacques was born in New Orleans and raised in Oakland, CA.. She began this journey to find out what it means to be Creole, to understand her culture, her language and her history...and after the devastation of Katrina in 2005, her mission has evolved into her determination to keep the history and the music of New Orleans alive through concerts, children's performances, workshops and residencies.

Michelle’s credits include: recipient of the City Of Oakland, Individual Artist grant for 2008, winner of the 1992, Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA) for “Best Folk/Progressive Song”, “Home Africa, studio recordings with the renown producer Greg Landau including Pamela Rodriguez, Susana Baca, Kepa Junkera, and soundtrack for the Sundance Film Festival Official Selection, 2010 movie “La Mission” with Benjamin Bratt, and served on the board of directors of Arts First Oakland.

A very poorly organized event. Other than our table, I have no idea who else was there.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
