Topic: Why Do We Have War?

The topic, "Why Do We Have War?", was selected and won the vote at our 7/2/2014 meeting in Concord.

I'd like to thank the members of our meetup group who are helping me to co-organize this cafe in Concord.

All members are encouraged to RSVP.

While there are some vending machines next to our meeting room, there will not be other food available, so I encourage you to bring your own food and beverage to the meeting room. There are a number of restaurants nearby, as well as a Peets Coffee & Tea.

There is a public parking garage next to the Plaza Tower that offers free parking, and the garage should have ample parking at the time of our meeting.

Please make sure to RSVP only if you are able to attend since RSVPs are limited. If you RSVP, but need to change your plans, please make sure to come back to the meetup site to change your RSVP (at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting) to provide others with an opportunity to RSVP for this meetup.

One of the members who is co-organizing this group with me will greet you in the lobby of the building and will escort / direct you to our meeting room. We meet on the first floor of the building. If you happen to arrive a little bit after 7 PM, look for philosophy cafe signs at the entrance of the building, which provide a telephone number you can call so that we can have someone come out to meet you. But, please try to come earlier than 7 PM.

We look forward to seeing you!

I watched this before I attend the meeting-he points out something beyond surface ,which we have to think about.we often forget the brutal truth over culture ideology.

Thanks Elsa. As usual your comments were much appreciated and right on the target. Tolstoy was right.

Another thoughtful and multi-layered discussion on an important topic - war. Lawrence, once again you led the troops with grace and style! Our group did not reach any firm conclusions, but as Leo Tolstoy once said: "The strongest of all warriors are these two — Time and Patience."

As usual a very simulating and fascinating discussion was shared by all. Recently, researchers have discovered that by participating in these social groups, our minds may produce positive endorphins, which leads a kind of euphoria, afterwards. Like a refreshing dip in the ocean. Has anyone else experienced these sensations as I have? Thank you Lawrence for all you do for us.

I don't know if this group always meets on Wednesday evenings, but if so, I won't be available for the next month or so. Pity, as it sounds like a wonderful group.
