Kicking Cancer- Soccer Tournament

Life is made up of challenges -it is even in our nature to create more challenges when we don't feel we have enough of them. All of the Mt. Everest chasers, Marathon runners, skydivers etc... are evidence of that. But some people have the opposite problem; their challenges are too much to handle in one life time. When you have cancer your challenge becomes fighting the disease, staying alive. When your family member has cancer, your challenge is to be their support.

But these are not the only challenges that those affected by cancer face. Affording treatment should be the last thing on your mind when you are facing the challenge of cancer, but unfortunately, it is often the at the forefront.

This Spring, we are dedicated to helping eliminate this part of the challenge for people with cancer, by making it our challenge to help raise money for them! We will be hosting a series of KICKING CANCER soccer tournament games and would love to see you out there, Kicking for a Cause with us.

When: March 3, 2013, 2pm

Where: Bayport Park, 301 Jack London Ave, Alameda, CA 94501 (The fields are reserved for our event so no interruptions!)

http://goo.gl/maps/iAH6C

What: Soccer Game. Depending on how many people we get, we will divide up into teams and play tournament style games.

Donation: Minimum $20 to play! We realize this is a lot for a soccer game, but you can think of the soccer game as being FREE and the $$ is all for helping those with cancer. (If you cannot afford min 20$ donation and still want to be a part of this amazing event, email us, we want to see everybody who wants to be part of the event)

Please make all donations directly to our webpage. http://pages.teamintraining.org/sf/paccrstr13/teresa.

Your donation will be your ticket in, just RSVP on the Meetup page or on our Facebook page once you have donated, so we can get a headcount. You can also bring cash the day of the event if it is easier, and we will submit your donation.

ALL donations are tax deductible as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit organization

We will be giving all participants in the games "Kicking for a Cause" silicone wristbands as a token of appreciation. If you cannot make the game but would like to donate, just emails us your address and we will send you a wristband!
As it is with any tournament, there will be prizes for the winning team!

Please feel free to bring your friends, family, kids - there is plenty of space for everyone (and a fun playground for the little ones!)
Pass this out to everyone and anyone so that we can reach out to as many people as possible!

Oz and Teresa did a great job putting this together! Everyone who came out had a good time, whether they played or not, and lots of food to snack on throughout the afternoon to keep them going. Congratulations guys and good luck in the triathlon!

I'll collect the red pinnies on Saturday so we'll have those as well.

Hey Farhad, maybe you can also bring the cones you have in case the fields need to be marked out too.

Heather, of course you can organize your own team! We will be more than glad if you can bring more people. Once we know how many people we have, we will divide them into teams and have tournament! The field is large enough to play 3 games at the same time. depending on the people we can set a time for each game. Excited to see you there!

once we have an idea how many people are coming.... or once we arrive, any chance we can organize our own team? I might be able to get a larger group of people together, but i'm sure we'd like to play together rather than all be spread across different teams. Also... time frame? or does that depend how many people/teams?
