Ping-Pong Social #12

Teams Format

We will start with warm up and social play at 7:00 pm, then at 8:00 pm we will group players into teams. Each team will consist of 2-4 players. One player will take their place at the table for each team and play a point. The player who wins the point will remain. The player who loses the point will be replaced by a teammate. This rotation will continue until the match is concluded. This format is called “Brazilian Teams”. Each team will play each of the other teams. The winning team will receive a prize.

This should take about an hour and a half, and we will try to finish by 9:30 so the winning team can redeem their prize at The Red Onion. Please be sure to show up by 7:30 so we can make the teams by start time.

The cost is $5.

ATTC is a great facility with 14 Butterfly Centrefold tournament tables, good lighting, high ceilings and tournament barriers.

Please do NOT RSVP unless you plan to attend.

If you RSVP but can’t make it, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so someone else can take your spot. If you no show repeatedly we will have to remove you from the group.

Don't forget to wear suitable non-marking athletic shoes.

I was the weakest player there but everyone was really friendly. I got schooled all night during the "Brazilian teams" tournament but it was fun. Sharpened basic skills during the social hour with Libin who was patient with me. Will be back next time!

Hey everyone so sorry, I was going to go, but have family in town for this weekend, so I can't go:( however, I will be looking forward to going next week. Hope all goes well, can't wait to meet people, and have some fun!

Newbie here but I have solid hand-eye coordination from playing other sports. I hope this particular event is newb-friendly. If not, let me know and I won't take it personal. =)

Format may be fun for good players, but don't see how it can help beginners. They'll go home quickly.
When is the next training session for newbies?

I guess my description might not be optimal. Beginners don't go home any earlier that the others. In the past this has been one of the most popular formats. We just started a new 8 week Sunday session:. We can accommodate 2 more students.
