Meet and Critique XIV

Love science fiction and fantasy? Always spotting errors in books? Driven crazy by the misuse of "it's"? Join us for our fourteenth meeting in the Union City Library's Meeting Room! Help fellow writers polish their craft and get insight into your own work in a fun, supportive environment.

Submissions for this meeting are closed, but we are seeking pieces for October. Submissions will be scheduled for future meetings on a first-come-first-come basis. You must participate in at least one meeting before your work is critiqued. Email your submission to Beth. Please limit submissions to no more than 7000 words. That's an average chapter or about 20 pages of screenplay. If you're in doubt as to whether the length is a problem, let me know and we'll work something out. If you are submitting an excerpt from a longer work (e.g. Chapter 4 or Book 2, Chapter 1), include a list of Dramatis Personae and a synopsis. These should be detailed enough that someone new to the work will have all the information they need. Submitting is $5 to defray website expenses.

I won’t be able to make it today. I just came in at 5:30 AM this morning after a late night. Well...until the next meeting.

I have never participated in a Meet and Critique before, but I'm really curious. Do I ust show up at the US Library? Or is there something else I need to do?

I took care of it already Trish - should've said something here. Thanks for being willing to jump in and help out!

I'm interested in coming, but I'm new, and confused about how the critique process works. Do you email us the pieces we are critiquing in advance of the meeting?

Hi Charlotte and welcome! I sent you a message that I hope will explain. :)

Hey, apologies for my poorly worded question and responses. However, here is a list of science fiction with gay main characters. I got a few from you folks at the meeting. But if anything else pops up, I'd be interested to hear more. Thanks.

No worries Earl. I just had to tease you. :) I'll let you know if I think of any other books.
