Jody the message on their machine says do not leave multiple messages as the volunteers are slowed down by it, and that it can take up to two weeks to hear back from them. I want to leave another message but it's been only a week.
      What would you recommend?

Monte: Email me and I can set up the appointment for you. As I mentioned before, ARF is now scheduling into December in some cases, it depends on your specific situation. They try to get the most needy dogs and cats in first. Thanks, Jody

I was able to go to ARF this afternoon to check out the facility. I asked about the spay/neuter and they said they are way backed up and to continue waiting for a call back. I only left one message so hopefully they did indeed get and I can get her taken care of ASAP. Jody- My friend has a Shitzu and she needs to get her spayed as well. I know if she doesn't get the free spay hers will be more expensive. Is there an organization that can help her? She is struggling from the shut down and could definitely use some help. I advised her to call for the free spay as she has but has no heard back. We are hoping to both get on that day so we can drop them off together. My personal e-mail is [masked]. Thank you. Also is there a resource for inexpensive shots? My income has stopped. :(

Just got a pup, need to get her spayed, is anyone going to this that day? I need to call tomorrow and make sure I can get in but I don't know if I can get there. I don't have a car and it appears the bus system has no clue where they are? Ideas?

Public Transit directions -- you use County Connection bus line from wherever you can catch the Route 1 or 7 bus to Mitchell Drive Park & Ride stop. The buses stop at WC BART, too --
BART directions >> Take BART to the Walnut Creek station, then take either the Route 1 or Route 7 County Connection bus. Get off at the Mitchell Drive/Park and Ride stop. ARF should be located across the street but I will need to check the map. Either way Mitchell Drive is a short street.

Kenzie is a chi mix. I still have not heard back about an appointment. Should I call back again? I thought they would've gotten back to me by now. I really need to get her spayed.

Jojet -- Your three dogs are all female, are Chi or Chi-mixes correct? And how many in heat right now or pg for sure? Also -- do you have a car or someone to take you to ARF on that FREE day, or are you also looking into BART & bus sched? -- Jody

hello. how may dogs per family? i have three that needs to be fixed. two of them were found walking the street and one of those two was preggo when we found her.

    September 30, 2013

    • Jody

There may not be a limit but call them ASAP since there are only so many dogs they will spay and neuter that day. Also please email me and I have some resources and can help you get them all fixed soonest if ARF cannot help for free. Thanks so much for helping the stray dogs! Jody - EBC Organizer & Founder

I wanted to know if the surgery adds fluids & testing for anesthetic profile?

    September 26, 2013

    • Jody

ARF is extremely thorough and careful with their examinations, however, I don't think there is a pre-op visit. A vet might recommend a standard blood test before surgery, but you may want to visit your vet to have that done beforehand or call ARF and see if they will do it. I know that a pre-op blood test for a dog is typically good about 3 months before any surgery is scheduled. If the test is done too far beforehand it wont be considered. Hope that helps!
