The Lindsay Adler Workshop - 2012 Philadelphia
For the May 2012 event, the Philadelphia Glamour Photography Group and Sigma Photo are proud to once again host a very special workshop with renowned photographer and author Lindsay Adler.
About Lindsay...
Lindsay Adler has become a modern day icon in the photography world. Having been published and featured in over 15+ magazines, and now a leader in the fashion and glamour photography genres, Lindsay is one of THE photographers that many models want to work with, and one that many photographers look up to for inspiration. Sponsored by the likes of Sigma Lenses, Calumet, Lensbaby, Broncolor, and Unique Photo, Lindsay has earned her place among the greats in contemporary photography. With her second book now available on Amazon and on many retail shelves (Fashion Flair for Portrait and Wedding Photography ), Lindsay Adler is a regular contributor to publications such as Rangefinder, Popular Photography, Shutterbug, and Professional Photographer. She is a frequent speaker at conferences such as the WPPI and Photoplus. The name of Lindsay Adler resonates in the photography circles as one who is both an innovator, and a photographer of skill and passion. Pick up any current photography publication, and you will likely see an advertisement of Lindsay in there, as she is on the cutting edge with photographic technique, marketing, and is a leader in the field of photography. This workshop will be another unique and profound experience for everyone, as Lindsay is again presenting material that will benefit all artists involved.
Lindsay will be conducting a two-part workshop, focusing on both those behind and in front of the camera. By providing makeup artists, hair stylists, and models with the essential information that they as contributing artists need to know in order to have a successful fashion/glamour photo shoot, Lindsay will address such components as the number of looks, the required number of images, and other essential preparation needed to be performed by the makeup artist, the hair stylists, and the models. This workshop is the first to address the people who play a key role in making a successful photo that are not clicking the camera, but instead playing an extremely important part in the development of the image. If you are a makeup artist, hair stylist, model, or another type of contributing artist who is serious about working in the fashion and glamour industries, then this workshop is one of the best ways to prepare yourself for succeeding in a very competitive environment. Learning directly from someone who is published nationally and internationally on a regular basis is not a regular occurrence, so don’t miss out on this special opportunity. Lunch and networking time are provided for this portion. Lighting equipment for this event will be in part supplied by Bron Imaging.
Part 1:
Essential Need to Knows for Makeup Artists, Hair Stylists, Models, and other Contributing Artists
9:30am-11:00am
(lunch/networking 11am-12pm)
-Lindsay will discuss directly with the makeup artists, hair stylists, models, and attending photographers the components that go into executing the photographer’s vision for a glamour/fashion shoot, the number of looks expected, the anticipated number of images, and other essential preparation for a successful project execution. Makeup artists and hair stylists will benefit directly from learning firsthand what the professionals require in order to conduct a high level fashion shoot. Makeup artists and hair stylists will gain insight on what is needed to help make a fashion or glamour shoot be the best that it can be. Models will learn how to prepare for a shoot in a way that makes them more competitive, as they acquire a better understanding of what is needed by all parties involved. Makeup services for the models will be provided by Nina.
Part 2:
Creative Studio Lighting
12:00pm-7:30pm
-for the second portion of the event, Lindsay will present and conduct an intensive creative lighting workshop, focusing on the basics of glamour and fashion photography, and how to make the most of studio lighting. This will be a hands-on workshop with live models addressing the elements of fashion lighting, including an explanation on why these techniques are used, a demonstration of each, along with several hours of hands on shooting practice with select models as subjects. Vintage Beauty Clothing will be providing several models and designs to be featured in the photography portion. Photographers are encouraged to be prepared to take notes, as this will be a very active workshop. Sigma Lenses will also be on hand to provide loaner lenses to the photographers. If you have ever wanted to try a different focal length, this will be the best opportunity. Sigma will have many 50mm, 85mm, 28-70mm, and others on hand for photographers to try out for free while participating in the workshop. Lindsay’s links are listed below for your review. One glance through them will clearly show why she is an exceptional photographer, and why she is such demand from photographers who want to network with and learn from.
