How do you identify yourself? atheist, humanist, skeptic, etc.

Atheist

Do you belong to other atheist, humanist, agnostic groups?

No.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I build things. Right now I'm working on a footbridge and restoring two steam engines from the 1870s. One of the steam engines was used in the first California commercial oil field in Pico Canyon, near Magic Mountain. The other may have been used in a Julian gold mine. I collect antique construction equipment and have several cranes, bulldozers, trucks and Studebaker trucks and cars. I also collect and rebuild antique hit and miss gas engines. I live on ten acres and have done extensive landscaping/hardscaping including a "gold mine", rock crusher powered by an old gas engine, waterfalls, a 53' homemade hand operated crane capable of lifting people up to 50' off the ground. That's the back yard. Across the creek I've got a 300 zipline.

What is your reason for joining this meetup group?

Sick and tired of what religion is doing to the world and our country. I believe most, if not all, religions are corrupting and many are viciously dangerous. I've never believed in any "higher power" and am totally mystified by people who do. I'd like to contribute more towards expanding ideas that can be proved rather than ancient superstitions which, in my view, have no place in a modern society. I'm looking for like-minded people and organizations that try to promote rational thinking.

What kinds of events would you like to see this group offer?

Not sure! I'd like to see what you've been doing, and meet with you before commenting on that.

Introduction

Old guy looking for new people with similar ideas regarding the stupidity of religion and frightened by what it's doing to our world.
