Wings Over Gillespie - Gillespie Field

Wings Over Gillespie, June 1 and June 2.

Choose the day that's best for you, of course you can attend both days too!

We're not meeting as a group, but it's possible we'll run into each other at this event.

There will be lots to see if you attend by yourself or if you attend with family or friends. This event will have aerial shows, vintage airplanes, vendors, food and beer.

From website:

Audiences will learn, through the memories of veterans, from military re-enactors and displays and flybys of aircraft what it was like when San Diego was home to massive aircraft industries and thousands of aerial warriors training to protect freedom, liberty and our great nation. A representative collection of San Diego designed and built aircraft will be on display, including a Consolidated PBY Catalina, PB4Y-2 Privateer, Ryan STM, PT-22 Recruit, L-17 Navion and a Vultee BT-13 Valiant.

New this year will be performances by Silver Wings Wingwalking and returning favorites, John Collver’s War Dog T6/SNJ aerial display plus the world’s only Northrop N9M Flying Wing will also be returning. Other WWII aircraft attending the event will include: the Douglas C-53 “D-Day Doll”, a Vought F4U Corsair, Grumman F6F Hellcat, F8F Bearcat and F4F Wildcat, North American P-51D Mustang, NA-50, Bell P-63 Kingcobra, and many more “Flying Museums.”

I really had a nice time. I briefly walked around before heading to the area I volunteered at. I was pleased to see so many in attendance, especially families with children. I didn't get to see much of the show, but I heard positive feedback from attendees. It was well organized. It offered a lot of aerial shows and vintage airplanes.

I won't be there Sat. Jun 1, but I'll be a volunteer on Sun. Jun 2 from about noon on. Once my position is confirmed I'll let you know where so you can come by to say hello!

I found out I'll be in the Admin Bldg. accessible only to volunteers so unfortunately no one will be able to stop by. I'm getting there early so I hope to watch the show from 11 am - Noon.

Hi Joe, as far as I know no one is meeting as a group. I think everyone is attending on their own. I'm volunteering so I won't be able to participate as a spectator. I hope you make it to this terrific event.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
