Gauging interest in a 1-3 session 9th level 3.5 Edition game (Tomb of Horrors!)

After seeing the push for more new games (Alan's pep talk) I thought I'd gauge interest in a one off 3.5 edition game. Whilst I'm more naturally a player I thought I should put a bit back and offer to run a game.

I'd aim for a few evening sessions probably Mondays or Thursdays or even better a long Sunday session with half time pizza.

All skill levels are welcome as it's more about common sense than knowing all the rules so don't worry if you've only ever played 4th edition. I would prefer people who have never played the original.

I can run it at my place which has both a big gaming table and is only 5 minutes walk from victoria centre in Nottingham, so it would be easy for people to get to.

Tomb of Horrors is a very famous module but it's a thinking dungeon rather than hack & slay. If your first thought at finding a door is to check for traps and listen at it you'll be ok. If your first thought is kick in the door, lob in a fireball and follow up with the fighters running in with a scream and leap well..... it might not be your thing.

Wikpedia has this to say about it:

Tomb of Horrors was ranked the 3rd greatest Dungeons & Dragons adventure of all time by Dungeon magazine in 2004, on the 30th anniversary of the Dungeons & Dragons game.[12] It is infamous among players of the game as a "killer dungeon", filled with all manner of extremely deadly traps and monsters that are capable of easily wiping out high-level parties of player characters.

I would have a number of pre-gens for people to use or people could create there own (9th level, 28pts stats and 20K gp in items).

Please let me know if you would be interested.

Could be interested.

Like many I know of the Tomb of Horror, and "the" famous trap-cum-sphere of annihilation but I have not actually played it.
I assume the setting to be good old Greyhawk.
So I might be tempted by a Priest of Olidammara.

What kind of books would be allowed (there is a lot of crap to choose from in 3.5!)

Mondays or Thursdays would be okay. Sundays would be a no-no.
Then again, if I run a game on Wednesdays, the girlfriend might complain.
Let's see if this happens, then I shall negotiate.

Heys never played 3.5ed, currently plain 4th ed D&D group, prefer the old AD&D grew up playing that, i could be interested in your session, mondays no good for me, thursdays only available from 8pm, and sundays would be better from afternoon onwards.

Like the idea of trying 9th level too, keep me posted on progress.

@Laurent:
I'd prefer to keep to just the core books but if someone has a particular prestige class or similar they wanted to play I coudl be persuaded. I'd want to have a check on it first before saying yes.

@Mike:
3.5 Edition is much closer to old style AD&D than 4th edition. Spell casters get a number of spells they can cast each day, you have saving throws and similar. I'll have a number of pre-gens available with full stat blocks/spell lists so you shouldn't have any problems with the rules.

Sounds good Andrew.
Like the idea of 3.5Ed being more like my old favoured AD&D, keep me posted on progress.
I am very interested.

I'm thinking the next step will be to decide on a day/time and then get it put up on the board and see if we can get 5-6 players.

Mike if I ran it on a Tuesday would you be able to make it/start earlier than 8pm? I'd prefer to start at 7pm so we'd get a few good hours in before people had to scoot off.

Anthony my postcode is NG1 4GN e.g. near Victoria Centre bus station. I assume 7pm would be ok for you?

One of those I game with Fridays (Travi) had an interest in playing and If I ask the group I might be able to get another one or two.

Laurent you'll have to let me know if you can make it.

Can people please let me know what they think about times & days and I'll go from there.

Would not be able to make Tuesdays as already in 4thEd D&D group on Tuesdays, so too is Travi he plays in same group.

For me Thursdays, Fridays or Sundays would be best.
