Let's have an official thread dedicated to the "Rise of the Runelords" campaign.

First allow me to give thanks to Ginga, Jim, Jim, Marie, Shane and Toby (*) for playing in my game and letting us all learn the ropes of the Pathfinder RPG game.
Special thanks to Ginga and Jessica for allowing us to play at "Vague Connections"

(*) Reverse alphabetical order next time.

Jim, I hope you caught your train and/or managed to go home safely. Jim (Whitefire) and I had understood that you needed to leave at 9.30 p.m. Hence my pausing the game after the second encounter at 9.20 p.m. to let you pack-up and say goodbye. A 9.30 p.m. train made it a totally different affair.

[Party]
Niskala "The Blinder", Male Gnomish Sorcerer, Cayden Calean
Elwyn "The Blinded", Male Elven Cleric, Pharasma
Alahna, Female Human Fighter, Iomedae
Mandrain "Manny", Male Half-Elf Rogue, (no god, soul doomed to oblivion)
Nelias, Male Human Fighter, Sarenrae
Drak'Van, Male Half-Orc Druid, Sarenrae

[Story]
Starday, Rova 21st, 4707, Swallowtail festival, a holy day for Desna's faith.
The ceremony for the dedication of the new cathedral did not go as planned.
Goblins were hiding in the middle of the fayre, then sprung up on the assembled populace.
A band of heroes has managed to save the day. The question remains as to what the Goblins were doing in Sandpoint in the first place. Surely they had inside help.

I owe you a bit more XP for quenching the flames of the prematurely lit bonfire. I think I missed the Goblin Warchanters too. In any case, your characters are in the general ballpark XP wise, the adventure calls for you to be second level pretty soon.

[Game organisation]
The majority has agreed to meet fortnightly, same place, same time.
Next game on Wednesday November 18th then.
I would be happy to keep the current players as the core gaming group for the campaign.
Six is a good number to handle. We could keep one additional opening for the sake of new members.

I will try to pace the game a bit better next time. Two encounters would have been a bit too short, but the last one put us beyond our expected 10.00 p.m. closing time.

In the next few days I shall write the advert for the next event and send it to Toby to be posted on the website.

[Game books]
"Vague Connections" has no web access yet, but if you want me to pass some orders for core rulebooks or Paizo supplements, drop me a line and I can pass them on on my way home from work.

Laurent,

Thanks very much for the game last night Laurent. It was well run, engaging and a good start to the whole thing.

I for one will feel more secure once I have a proper copy of the rules, and can absorb the details of my class, the place of Half-Orcs in Varisia etc.. I do like the fact that a Druid can take a Clerical Domain (in my case Fire) in place of animal companions - this fits very much with my own initial interpretation of my character, and sits alongside my decision for Drak'Van to worship Sarenrae very nicely.

As you may be aware I do not usually play spell casting types, and the tactical aspect of casting and so on may take a little time for me to grasp. Have a little patience with me.

Do you have a phone number of Vague Connections, so I can discuss book orders and so on?

Yes, this is a good take on the Druid class. We had "elementalists" before but they were mainly arcanists.
This obviously opens Druids to more deities than the pretty boxed-in concept of "true neutral" nature gods of various settings.

All I have is a Facebook link from the old "New Nottingham Gaming Shop Opening" thread:
http://www.facebook.c...
He mentioned yesterday that he had a mobile, but I cannot find it on the page.
He has an email: "Vagueconnections" at "hotmail.co.uk" (need to split the address to avoid spam), but as you may have heard yesterday he does not have regular internet access yet. I will drop by and ask his phone number tonight.

I can assure you that we played behind closed doors and did not wilfully intrude on your IP.

You want to sue us? Go ahead! smile

its a nice combo, ive always thought animal companions just got in the way of a parties 'proper' fighters', so its nice to have an alternative....

Does anyone know roughly when during November the PFRPG rulebook 2nd printing is supposed to actually hit these shores? I have been watching Esdevium's site and they still have nothing listed.

The Half-Orc was really just a spur of the moment thing, although I had pretty much decided before the character generation session to play a Druid, provided it fit with the party composition. (You see not all of my characters are venal, self-serving swine - I can be a tree hugger too).

From the Paizo boards:
http://paizo.com/paiz...

Browsing quickly I could not find anything more recent than October 6 on the question, that does not mean there is no such information.

When is the second printing? I missed the first one!

We still have some of the first printing for sale here on paizo.com. There is also some available in the distribution channel, so hobby game stores should still be able to order this. The second printing won't be hitting stores until sometime in mid-November though.

So basically, the usual "mid-November" answer plus one week to get on the shelves here.
I think that in the book business the copies are actually shipped to distributors some time before the release date, then released (sent to retailers) on official release.

:) it was a nice session... and well i did miss the train.... even with me running all the way to the train station :P luckily there was another train an hour later. I decided to take the last one (but leave half an hour before the train leave for safety reasons) and that should buy us at least 1 more hour of play :D and yea i did enjoy the game with all the fail acrobatic rolls.

Thanks Jim,

Next session will involve more roleplaying, I will try to get a small encounter running though to keep the pace, but the "diplomators" shall have a field day. Your character will however be in the lead because he is a member of the town militia. I guess he will get a promotion along with an assignment from the sheriff: "Find out how the Goblins managed to get into town."

Overworked militia... big mess to sort out... the town will need outsiders to look into this murky business, outsiders that can be relied upon, outsiders who have proven themselves. Now where will your character find these special operatives?

For the 9.30 p.m. you would need to pack around five past nine and leave by quarter past.
If you aim for the one after eleven, the official end of the game is ten o'clock, so plenty of time to get there.

[to All]
I have asked Toby to advertise the event as "FULL", hence he has automatically RSVPed all of us with a "Yes".
Obviously if you are not happy with it, or cannot make it on November 18th, you should switch to a "No" so that the rest of us know whom to expect.
