So currently we have 2 4E D&D games and a GURPS one. I'd really like to see a Pathfinder game running and then we have four games, 2 for the morning, 2 for the afternoon and that should be plenty. Unfortunately, I have never played 3.5E (not out of any fanboyism, just that I was at Uni pretty much for the whole time between 3E and 4E being released) and I don't own any Pathfinder books, so I doubt I'd run a very good game of it. I'd like it to be shown in the best possible light.

JRR and Whitefire, I believe that you both play Pathfinder. Would either of you be willing to pop up to Nottingham to run a Pathinder game in the afternoon slot?

Despite all the above being about Pathfinder, I would welcome someone running a Warhammer game instead.

Talking of which. If you take into account buying a PHB, MM and DMG for an edition of D&D you are not that far off the price of the boxset of WHFRP.

So it seems likely that I need to write up the Christmassy idea in the form of GURPS D/F with maybe six or seven Pregens to pick from.
Of course if anyone wants to pick an archetype and book a place I can discuss characters with them.

Hi Pobman

I am still only a "maybe" on attendance at the moment - my life is hideously complicated at the moment I'm afraid.

Also - I have only ever played one session of PFRPG run by Laurent at Vague Connections. Love the concept, but not had a chance to play it before then. I don't have hard copies of the books or anything, so for now, for me, I can't see myself doing it justice at this stage.

For the next event you run there though I will happily run a PFRPG adventure - have to be a different story arc than the VC one Laurent is running, but more than happy to do so.

I'm looking at doing the "Games Day" game in the afternoon. Start time about 1300 or so. I'll be there early to set-up munchkin and/or any other card/board games people bring (or that David is able to make available) - preferably things that would be easy for anyone to just "pick up" as I want anyone that happens in to be able to understand and join in. Better for the store and better for us as a group.

The Games Day adventure is for pregens (the specifics for which I'll hopefully have tomorrow evening so I can post here about them)

Although I am biased towards Mondo Comico I'd like to suggest we try to do something at Vague Connections as well in the future. The general idea to be to support both shops and help them both to thrive. I'm also thinking that it would help with Games Days in future if there are multiple "real world" locations we can advertise at and run events at.

Just piping in since I have been mentioned.

The problem at the moment is indeed the lack of copies. Paizo always refer to the second print run happening "mid-November". We managed to play last time with a couple of books and a laptop, but we had to learn the game while playing. Lack of copies means players cannot read that big tome while on the bog, thus just cannot find time to read it!

I am already running a 3.5 game at the Monthly Meetup, and a fortnightly PRPG campaign. I do not have time to prepare and run another game.

I would advise to drop the PRPG plan for this event and would be happy to play in something run by Jim or John (or someone else I do not know) next time.

Glen,

Good point, I was agonising about how to phrase something along the line "Vague Connections too..." so your post is indeed timely.

I was just about to say that I have mentioned the event at "Vague Connections" today, telling Ginga to get his a*se connected on the web pretty quick and participate in organising this event sometime in the near future, assuming it will repeat itself.

So, let me rephrase:

"Since I am biased towards Vague Connections I'd like to suggest we try to do something at Vague Connections as well in the future. The general idea to be to support both shops and help them both to thrive. I'm also thinking that it would help with Games Days in future if there are multiple "real world" locations we can advertise at and run events at."

I do not dispute that, what I meant was people being able to read the book beforehand.
It helps a lot for instance to realise that magic items are now identified out of a good spellcraft roll, that appraise is more useful. This of course in order to select the right skill from the beginning.

Life getting in the way of one's hobby... how cruel! crying

the online PRD has it all

we all rolled up characters first time w/o the book

the main issue is, whether from book or online, is wading through the amount of 'stuff'

you are right, many skill do lots more things now.
