Cheers came from shuttered buildings but minutes later a Watch sergeant brought a message from the South Landing – aquatic raiders are about to overcome the shore guards! Having beaten back the airborne assault our heroes were called to the South Landing where Kuo Toa, Chuuls and a Magical Massive Tentacle Monster were being held back by two militia guards with a ballista. Grim was the first to be dumped in the water and so tied himself to a tree. The precaution proved effective. Soon Town Guards, Felix and Vintera found themselves swimming for their lives as the chuuls closed in. At one point Felix (or was that Marla?) went under and Gronek sprinted up the jetty, across the boat and dived onto a chuul. Somehow swimming better in armour, with sword and heavy shield, than Felix could, Gronek splashed and smashed. Meanwhile Grim was on the floor recovering his maul again, the sticky shield of the kuo-toa being extremely effective. Mordan was the only dry on as he seemed to have few problems dodging the massive mud tentacles.
Rushing back to the beleaguered walls Ice Trolls were lifting Grimlocks over the battlements. Sadly they were quickly picked off, two running straight into Grim’s Flaming Maul. The Ogre Warhulk wasted much time trying to lift the portcullis that Gronek had fixed with a Nail of Sealing. Felix rode into battle as Marla but got flanked. Fortunately Vintera was ready with bow and Mordan was well positioned in hiding. Gronek and Grim took down the Warhulk while Mordan and Vintera brought down the Nothics. Felix held strong on her charger.
At the end of the battle a dragonborn and an apparent drunk came out of a nearby inn and threatened Vintera. Krivash Dragonborn had seen his brother Arath killed by Vintera and challenged her to a battle. Seeing his powerful friend, and the fact that Vintera with a bow is a match for most, the team stepped back and allowed the elf to more than adequately defend herself. She soon brought the dragonborn down and his friend flew off over the town.
Minutes later the seeds spread by the Troglodyte during the airborne assault began to burst into monstrous forms. Will the tide of enemy monsters never turn?
