That deranged academic in the States who went on a rampage...

SHE WAS A D&D PLAYER.

Who would have thought?

http://news.bostonher...
Note that they mention that "No D&D in jail" topic from last month.

The same "highly respected" newspaper informs us (bottom of the page) that she was a far-Left nutter. Somehow, only the D&D bit made it to the title.

Please note that she played the first edition of the game. No known serial killer has so far been linked to "Pathfinder RPG", which remains a very SAFE hobby. wink

I notice she was one of those University staff types too. They are downright dangerous it seems.

Worse still, she is obsessed with Obama and treated the Job tenure appeal like a game of chess. - You know, chess, that ancient chinese war tactics game. Bloodthirsty slaughter of pawns, all powerful queens running amok on the field of play, killing bishops and knights with impunity.

Another common thread-she was American.

what can one expect from a country that thinks Harry Potter is demonic?

As long as I am fed a pound of baby flesh a day, I feel perfectly able to live in society. cool

Again a cheap attack by extension on the brains that power research and development in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Envy, it is but envy that motivates such attacks. tongue

Got to love this though:

"Bishop was charged with assault and battery for a March 2002 incident, in which an enraged Bishop unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against a mother whose child got the last booster seat at the Peabody International House of Pancakes, according to a Peabody police report.

She yelled “I am Amy Bishop”and then punched the frightened mother in her head. When police questioned Bishop, she claimed to be the victim, the report stated."

From one of the linked stories.
http://news.bostonher...

I feel somehow proud. If this is what the world sees D&D players as, you watch out! “I am Amy Bishop”

Some years ago a drunken bishop hit the news, giving rise to the phrase 'well and truly bishopped'

it seems we now have a new use for the term 'bishopped'

Even given the premise that D&D is Evil, the next question would be is it lawful?
Well, I believe that it is Neutral at best.
Sure it is highly dependent on "Laws" enshrined in its rules of various versions, but it is also highly dependent on the totally random rolling of dice used to generate the results of various actions.

Having both Law and Chaos at its heart, it must be neither, and is therefore Neutral.

Back to the Evilness that we first took as established.
Can a system that uses Clerical characters, as well as rogues (Thieves) and indeed stupidly good Paladins in what is usually a fight of good versus evil, with the players typically taking the "good" side, be entirely Evil? Again, I must propose Neutrality.

I propose D&D is True Neutral. However it is easily influenced by its players and DM.

I am NOT Amy Bishop. Nor do I play one in any game.
I am in various guises as a player, a Cleric of Moradin, Yondalla / Dallah Thaun, A Druid of Sylvanus, a Bard, a Ranger. As a DM I am everything, except maybe Amy Bishop.biggrin

I think those who are classed as "Powergamers" would be lawful evil, and those who are "Roleplayers" could chose between the three?

I have rolled a cleric named Bishop Amy.

Who do they worship? That's the *crucial* issue.
