Consequences of Actions

... the story so far.

The six players awake inside a circular room with six treasure chests and five doors/portals. They have no memory of who they are, or what they are doing here. After retrieving their equipment from the chests the players see their names carved into the inside of the chest lids and this makes them recall their names.

In the centre of the room, atop a pedestal, a phantom dwarf like creature appears and states:

You are the legendary 6; you have been brought here to reassemble the Quata Mountain seal. This you must do, or Boorass will soon be free once more! Only with the seal can he truly be defeated. Use the portals to travel to the 5 locations, and gather the 5 pieces of the seal. Use the pendant below to return here at any time. (There is a pendant on the pedestal); the person whom carries it will gain 1 to AC, when used the whole team will reappear here. Retrieve the Quata seal and your memories and health will return, do nothing and you will simply fade away never knowing who you really are. And worse, Boorass shall be free once more to wreak havoc again upon all the lands. I will speak again once you have gathered the 5 pieces of the seal.

After this each player takes 1 HP damage, but it's not just HP damage, their max HP is lowered by 1. This will happen on a daily basis until they return to the pedestal with a piece of the seal. They then get their HP back, but it starts over loosing 1 HP per day. Ash (Rouge) and Carol (Val) take 1 HP hit every other day to compensate for their lower HP.

After burying their heads inside treasure chests and complaints of hunger, the party. Well the non Halfling part of the party. decides to check out each portal. After briefly entering each portal the party work out that the king or queen from each land has vanished, putting 2 and 2 together to get 5 the party then assume they are royalty! Certain names of the shrines they encounter seem to be recalled by some. After a close encounter involving Gnomes and a certain hungry Halfling the party decide to check out the Wild Elf portal. After a short time and hearing the name Captain Jack the party trick the 2 guards guarding the shrine. The Thief Rouge, Sorcerer Valenthe and Monk Yoya then enter the shrine. Leaving the Halfling boring. Erm... talking to the guards while the human and dwarf keep themselves entertained in the woods.

Inside the shrine the players find a door that is sealed with the text:

Brave adventurers, trouble and strife lie within, turn around and leave this place. Thee who still seek the treasure within, this door shall only open to those who travel the correct path. Travel the wrong path and the guardians will awaken, do this and start over thee must!

And a further 2 clues:

  • Travel heaven and earth in search of the heart and you'll surely reach it.

  • Using times footfalls spiral your way forth.

After a couple of pathetic attempts to work the clues out, and two battles with skeletons, the 3 realize they are woefully undermanned and bid a hasty retreat!

Deciding that that are royalty, and not just lowly servants. oh the arrogance!... They then enter the Gnome lands and declare just this to the now 15 guards assembled there! It was just 2 guards but a hungry Halfling put pay to that! With roars of laughter from the guards the party learn the following information:

The land of the Sun Elves is called Idium, it is ruled by Rouge Moulin, known publicly as Queen Asher. Cunning and clever she rules without conscience and takes what she wants. Not well liked, but runs the country well.

The land of the Wild Elves is called Orchid, it is rules by Valenthe Poplar known publicly as Queen Caroliner. Powerful with the magic arts, ruling with wisdom and loved by all.

The land of the Halflings is called Carnath, it is ruled by Osborn Windrider known publicly as King Benningham. A powerful man who expects all to abide by the rules of the lady (God). Forgiving to those who repent, and swift justice to those who do not. Loved by all.

The land of the Humans is called Ukay, it is rules by Odin Longshanks known publicly as King Conker. A very powerful man who does what is necessary to maintain order. Loved by most, and loathed by some.

The land of the Gnomes is called Sumarosan (How does he think of these names?) ruled by Yoya Tuxilla known publicly as King Lennings Powerful without the need for weapons, he rules with intelligence and wisdom, loved by all.

The land of the Dwarfs is called. ... Where do dwarfs come from? Who is their ruler? Why are there dwarfs in some of the lands? Why all the questions? Who knows?

So perhaps our party are royalty after all? The guards fail to recognise Yoya as the king, and fall about laughing at the suggestion. Convincing the guards to allow Yoya to approach the shrine, the door that can only be opened by royalty, opens to Yoya's command! The guards then... (Play stops)

Will we ever find out where dwarfs come from? Will the guards ever let the party go? Are the party royalty or not? Will the Halfling ever get something to eat? Will the DM manage to muddle his way through? Tune in to the next exiting episode to find out!
