BACKGROUND
Origin
Born in Suzail, the capitol of the nation of Cormyr, Aradon was the son of Helana and Aidon Thrall. Aidon was a training officer for the Cormyrian army, and his mother Helana a beatiful yet humble market seller. Aradon spent his younger years being brought up in a kind and honourable family, where he was given love and comfort. Aradon was taught to honour and respect the people around him, and to hold friendship in the highest regard. Unfortunatly when he was only 10 years old, his mother Helana passed away from a terminal illness.
Upon entered his teens, Aradon was enlisted into the Cormyria army under his fathers watchful eye. He did this willingly and enjoyed the teaching he received, learning the art of melee combat at the instruction of his farther and others at the academy. One area that Aidon was surprised his son took to was leadership, something that Aradon seemed to naturally exude. Aradon was a compassionate friend to other recruits, aiding them and giving advice to improve their training. He also had great insight into their feelings, guessing their intentions without hesitation both on and off the training ground.
Although there were many good officers at the academy Aradon succeeded them all in almost every field, graduating with honours in hand to hand combat, tactical awareness and leadership. Aidon secretly hoped that one day we would become part of the Purple Dragons, the elite knights of the Cormyrian army. Upon leaving the academy, Aidon gave Aradon a gift, a pendant hanging from a hempen strng. Aidon explained it had belonged to Aradon's mother, and that she said to give it to you when the time was right. Aradon thanked his farther, for the gift as well as his upbringing and training, as left for his first active duty.
Aradon's first post was in Wheloon, where he was in command of the local malitia. He took to the job well and was well respected by the towns folk, who he we would meet about his rounds. Wheloon was not without its troubles, but Aradon did what he could to quash any bands of rebels that hope to disrupt the towns well being.
Over time Aradon started to notice problems with his men. They were becoming increasingly more arrogant and power hungry with the positions they held in town. Rumors had come to him of about disruptive soldiers being aggressive to towns folk. One night after leaving his post, Aradon heard a disturbance coming from the local baker. Peeking into the window, Aradon saw that the baker was being beaten by a cloaked figure wielding a knife, who was demanding money for protection against local thieves. Aradon headed round the back of the bakers, burst in the door and dived on the cloaked man. There was a struggle but Aradon managed to land some fatal blows with a knife he has wrestled off the man. After checking on the baker, who had been knocked unconscious, he draw back the hood of the figure. To his shock and horror he realised it was one of his men, and worst a graduate from the same academy in Suzail.
Unable to comprehend what he had done, Aradon fled into near by Hermits Wood. Questions whirled through his head; Why had the soldier been threatening the baker? How had he let his men become so corrupt? Why didn't he check before killing the man? He carried on stumbling into the night, convincing himself he had failed as an officer and failed his parents. He carried on for what seemed like days, until he came across a church on the outskirts of Marsember.
He was hungry, cold and dripping wet from the rain and decided to shelter in the church for a short while. Hearing the wrap at the door, the reverend of the church open it an beckoned the young soldier in. After being wrapped in a blanked and given a bowl of warming yet tasteless broth, Aradon sat at one of the pews. Looking around he felt almost a familiarity with the symbols around the church. The more he looked at the tapestries and the holy trinkets the more he began to wonder where he had seen the symbols on them before. Then he realised, and pulled out the pendant given to him by his farther. The symbols matched.
Aradon hurried over to the reverend who explained that he had stumbled into a church of Amunator, god of the sun. Aradon showed the reverend his pendant, and spent the rest of the night asking questions about Amunator, his teachings and laws. He was convinced that there was a reason he entered the church, that he had been guided by Amunator bright light and he was thankful of his late mother for the gift that she had given her.
He left in the morning, with renewed faith in a god who believes in alleviating suffering and lighting up corruption with mercy and compassion, value he had always upheld. He travelled into Marsember, where he was able to buy provisions and change his armour that had become tattered and damaged from the night before. He left marsember, vowing to search for strength and greater faith to aid him in not making the same mistakes he had done in the past.
After many months of travelling, he met up with a small band of adventurers who he hopes to aid in there quests. For Amunator, his mother and all that is good.
Ascension
His god, it appeard was watching over him. As the blood returned colour to his skin and the breath to his lungs, the murky shadows of the monks shifted into view. Death, it appeared, had not affixed a vice like grip on his soul as Aradon looked around the room and attempted to remember what happened.
He was fighting in the temple..........cold stone floor made his back shiver........beetles, lots of them......then light. Bright white light that seemed to have the heat of the sun and made Aradon shield his eyes. He remember his head filling with voices, whispering yet booming inside his head. Then he was returned back to the real world.
"Where are the others?" he asked, "Resting." was the reply from one of the monks "Something that you should be doing also, you have had a terrible ordeal.". With that the ritual casters exited to room, one of them gesturing to some fresh water and bread on the side board. It suddenly occured to him that he had been preserved and quite dead for a while as he realised he was pretty hungry.
