Uke Club's MAY JAM in San Antonio

Saturday, May 4th @ Garage Mahal (Time: 1 p.m. to 2:30/3:00 p.m.) in beautiful historic Downtown San Antonio, Florida (near St. Leo University). The Garage Mahal, a converted garage, serves as a jamming place and concert venue for many local musicians. It is owned by Rochelle and Norman Morris, who are graciously letting the Uke Club use the venue. The Garage Mahal is located inside the fenced gate of the purple house located across from the city park in San Antonio. Since this is not a restaurant, it might be wise to bring your own beverage and snack, if desired.

There will be plenty of chairs. Bring your uke, music stand (if you have one), a book light, and a singing voice. We normally jam in unison so nobody feels self-conscious...This is for fun!

Also, please download music tabs (under "Files") for the specific date's jam and bring your "Jumpin' Jim's The Daily Ukulele Book" and the new "Leap Year Version" if you have it. The book can be purchased at any Sam Ash Music Store, Barnes & Noble, or online at Amazon.com.

Please Note: To defray the cost of using Garage Mahal and maintain our MeetUp website, a donation of $2 is suggested.

Thank you all for letting my husband and I sit in and listen. Special thanks to Candy for the handouts and helpful hints and Michael for offer of lessons. Have ordered books to learn by and will try and improve before the next jam!

I enjoyed all the Beatles songs and the helpful hints. Great way to spend the afternoon. We even stopped and picked blueberries on the way home.

Glad to see a good turn out and new faces! Kudos to Landis, Yvonne, and Patti for driving in from St. Pete. Thanks to Michael for teaching the embellishments for "Norwegian Wood" and "When I'm 64."

More fun than a barrel of Liverpudlian superstars! Loved Mark's Beatlesque vocal embellishments and Mike's insights. Gratified my "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter call was so well received. And glad to see a good number of participants.

If we have the time, I will call a song on Sir Paul's latest CD, Kisses On the Bottom: It's on p. 176 of the Leap Year Edition. Meanwhile, take a look & listen to his collaboration with Diana Krall:
