Uke Club's August Jam in Zephyrhills

First Year Anniversary at Pretty Pond!

August's Ukulele Jam will be Saturday, August 2nd @ The Commons on Pretty Pond (Time: 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) at a beautiful retirement community in Zephyrhills, Florida.

We will be having our meeting in the Bistro area. Please enter through the front door.  There will be plenty of chairs. Bring your uke, music stand (if you have one), and a singing voice. We normally jam in unison so nobody feels self-conscious...This is for fun! We are not pros!

Also, please download music tabs (under "Files") for the specific date's jam and bring your "Jumpin' Jim's The Daily Ukulele Book" and the new "Leap Year Version" if you have it. The book can be purchased at any Sam Ash Music Store, Barnes & Noble, or online at Amazon.com.

I'll be emailing the song list in the near future.  I would like to do more songs from "hand-outs" that are in easy keys to sing.  Upload any songs you think might work for the group.  Again, I'd like to take time for people to do an "open mike" and perform a solo, lead the group, or do an original song. This is good practice and you are among friends! So, get ready to sit in the hot seat (that means, use the mike and amp).

Glad Chris made it up here! So nice to hear Joyce and the charango!
I liked being in the community room today too.

That charango was awesome. What an amazing sound it makes.

Yes, the community room sounded great. It had a wonderful ambiance, and I could hear people and their instruments better.

It's the unexpected that makes these meets so special: Joyce, double thanks for the music stand and for showcasing "El Condor Pasa" on the charango. Sharon, love your fills on "Tennessee Waltz." As always, thank you, Chyrisse! Next month I will be early and organized.

Here's "Let It Be" in C:

Why C? Because The Underground has a play-a-long with some nice fills...

I, with my Medicare eyes, greatly appreciate an easier to read version of music. Candy, you are solid Gold!

We would like the music for Jackie Blue. Bryan does picking. The song is not in the blue or yellow book. We would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Lana

I found some good 60’s & 70’s pop tunes that are fun to sing and play:

Hanky Panky...Tommy James & the Shondells
    Mrs. Robinson…Simon & Garfunkel
    Oh My My…..Ringo Starr
    Hey Jude….The Beatles
    You’re My Best Friend….Queen
Stuck in the Middle With You….Stealers Wheel
Come and Get It….Paul McCartney (recorded by Badfinger)
You Keep Me Hanging On….Holland-Dozier-Holland…but Vanilla Fudge, Supremes, etc. had their own versions….

I don't drive and would need a ride to a ukulele meeting. I work in the mornings, Monday through Friday. Saturday afternoons would be compatible for me. I belong to Tampa Bay Ukulele Society, which is far for me, also, I don't drive. I would like to learn how to play my ukulele.

Hi, Kristine...We meet near Hwy. 301 and Pretty Pond Rd. in Zephyrhills. Where do you live? Maybe somebody lives in your area...

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
