Song list for May 4th Jam

Hello Ukers!

Here is the song list for our next ukulele jam on Saturday, May 4th.  We'll meet at the usual time...1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  It's always good to come a few minutes early to find a seat.  Please bring a music stand, the "Jumpin Jim Ukulele" books, and a book light (if needed).

Format

We will try to warm up with a couple of three chord or "easy" songs (pls. see below). Then, we'll go through our set agenda of songs. We will then proceed in a circle as each person chooses and "leads" a song of his/her choice. Yes, lead the count off and start singing! Any song from the book or beyond is fair game. Since we have members at various playing levels, members have the choice to play along, sing, do both, or sit the song out. Please be respectful of the person's song choice and no griping, please! Everybody has different tastes. This is a good positive way to expand one's horizon and possibly learn new chords.

The songs are from "The Daily Ukulele" book by Jim Beloff. We are now using the "Leap Year" version of the "The Daily Ukulele" book. Please purchase it if you have not. You can order it from Amazon.com, Barne’s & Noble, or buy it at Sam Ash. Also, please bring hand-outs of any songs you want the group to play during the "Open Season" time. So, here goes!

BUY THE BOOKS:

www.amazon.com

www.half.com

Suggestions from members:

1. If you want to introduce a song to the group and offer a hand-out, it might be nice to post the song in advance on the website.
2. When it comes to the “Open Season” part of the jam, everybody gets to pick a song to LEAD. Please KNOW the song and not just “like” it. If not, pick a song you know or say “pass.”

FOR May 4th
SONG LIST—Beatles Month
*I tried out a few of the Beatles songs in the books but the key or chords seem to be off…Here’s a few decent ones.
“Octupus’s Garden” (Page 268) LEAP YEAR
“You Won’t See Me”  LEAP YEAR (Page 406)
“Ob-La-Di Ob-La-da” (Page 174) Yellow Book
“Nowhere Man” (Page 266)

"Open Season" Songfest!

Your choice....YOUR chance to LEAD a song or introduce a hand-out to the group..Please remember, you should know the song and how it goes :)

And it doesn’t have to be a Beatles tune!

Peace & Ukes!

I just uploaded a version of I'll Follow The Sun with chords that seem to work better than the version in the Daily Ukulele.
