Honk TX Parade!

EDITED:

The schedule is up at http://www.honktx.org.  There's lots of awesomeness but we'll probably go on Saturday down to Hemphill Park just north of the UT campus. They'll have a neighborhood parade starting at 11:30 and bands playing until 8pm on 5 different stages in the area.

The little ones will LOVE this event because of the amazing costumes as well as fun music, but headphones to protect their ears are highly recommended because marching bands are LOUD. We got two sets of Baby Banz earmuffs on Amazon last year and they've worked out well. JPM

I biked pregnant with the Honk TX parade last year but this year we will do it on foot (while dancing) with the little one. So many great marching bands playing such fun music to dance and bounce around. AND the costumes were amazing to look at!

Last year the bands all started the parade at the Pan American Center at Chicon and 4th and marched to Republic Square Park in Downtown with a following of crazies, kiddos, and amateur musicians. It was wonderful.

The full schedule isn't up and the exact location is not set but we will be there for sure.

We had an amazing time yesterday (well, there was a certain toddler who freaked out when his popsicle melted before he could finish it), and I would absolutely recommend going to the parade on this beautiful Sunday! We're heading to SA for the day and will miss out, but hope you all have fun!

Just found HONK TX on Facebook and they have all kinds of awesome links to the various bands, a movie night, a potluck dinner with the bands on Saturday, and more. https://www.facebook.com/honktx?fref=ts

Joe and I will probably just do the actual parade on Sunday, but we might be up for some fun on Saturday too!

I think we are still planning on doing parade on Sunday instead of the Park on Saturday if anyone wants to join us down at Pan-Am Park at 4th & Chicon for the Parade and all band revue!

We are IN. This was so outrageously fun last year. Definitely worth investing in some ear protectors so you can get close to the (very loud) action!
