The schedule is up at http://www.honktx.org. There's lots of awesomeness but we'll probably go on Saturday down to Hemphill Park just north of the UT campus. They'll have a neighborhood parade starting at 11:30 and bands playing until 8pm on 5 different stages in the area.
The little ones will LOVE this event because of the amazing costumes as well as fun music, but headphones to protect their ears are highly recommended because marching bands are LOUD. We got two sets of Baby Banz earmuffs on Amazon last year and they've worked out well. JPM
I biked pregnant with the Honk TX parade last year but this year we will do it on foot (while dancing) with the little one. So many great marching bands playing such fun music to dance and bounce around. AND the costumes were amazing to look at!
Last year the bands all started the parade at the Pan American Center at Chicon and 4th and marched to Republic Square Park in Downtown with a following of crazies, kiddos, and amateur musicians. It was wonderful.
The full schedule isn't up and the exact location is not set but we will be there for sure.
