As the temperatures continue to rise I thought it would be good to share this article about heat safety for our pups http://www.endangered...­ .
Please keep these precautions in mind while hiking with your double coated breeds, short nosed breeds, old/chubby or black dogs. It is a good idea to start early or very late, carry water for the dogs and stay in the shade.

Thanks for FB sharing. I always worry about Amy this time of year. She is hot natured to begin with so the fluffy black coat doesn't help her. I thought it was interesting that the article Laura shared says to rub the arm pits of an over heated dog with rubbing alcohol. Something else to add to the fanny pack!

Another really good article, Laura. Might have to try some of that Mushers Secret on paws since the dogs always insist on walking on the pavement instead of the grass.
