Time for a fun-filled evening of food and games!
The focus will be on games involving words, such as Scrabble, Taboo, Bananagrams, etc. I've got a few to start us off, but feel feel free to bring along any word-themed games you may have.
Word games are great for building vocabulary and thinking skills, and are great "exercise" for your brain. Various studies have shown that staying mentally active, and challenging your noggin with tricky conundrums and new experiences is a great way to stay mentally active and on the ball, whether you're twenty or ninety.
It appears from the research that doing a particular activity will improve that particular function of the brain — so, for example, playing a memory game will improve your memory, while doing jigsaws will improve your spatial and pattern recognition skills. Solving word-based puzzles and playing word games like Boggle™ and Scrabble™ will improve your language skills.
About the restaurant:
The Harp is a genuine Irish pub that offers a perfect blend of modern comfort in a traditional atmosphere, where you can relax and be amongst friends!
The Harp interior was designed and built by true Irish craftsmen. Many of the decor items were originally built in Ireland, dismantled, imported into the USA, and then expertly reconstructed onsite.
* You do not have to get food, but if you want to you can check out the menu here. You're welcome to come a little late if you need to. I'm sure most of us will end up hanging out until around 9:00pm, if you know you need to be late please mention this in your RSVP.
