Dr. Rigden is wonderful!  He helped me immensely by giving me Magneseum shots, B-12 shots (I learned to give myself) and nutritional IV's plus I've gone gluten free as well.

His downfall is that he only takes BC/BS which I no longer have now that I'm on SSDI and medicare.  But he did support my disability case that was handled by Scott Davis and I won first time around, so I can't say enough about him either.  I have been dealing with Fibro since probably the early 90's but wasn't diagnosed until 2005.  I kept trying to work only to keep getting worse.  Now I am so much better that I can sleep and not be stressed as much.

I'm going to try this Dr. St. Amand's recommendations through the group emails and try the Mucinex TM to see if that will help with my inflamation.

I get massage therapy a lot, but recently I've had a set back and not sure if it was the therapy or what.

what about dr. Rigdon ?

that disability attorney scott davis had recommended him.  i keep calling rigdon's office and get voice mail and they dont call me back. i didn't think that was a good sign.  plus their office hours were pretty short compared to most doctors or business hours....made me leery i guess.   not sure if / how any insurance he takes or if he's one of these 'cash' only 'money' doctors that  charges $300/hour , takes no insurance, but will do whatever u want them to do for u.  (a.k.a. a 'scribble machine" when it comes to prescriptions).

does anyone have any thoughts on dr. rigdon?  i share in all of your frustration for proper , or any, acceptable or sufficient treatment. i've been sick w/ cfs/fibro for going on 13 years. thx. brad

Kenneth,

I appreciate the point you are making.

However, in the case of Dr. Bennett the problem rests solely, in my opinion, with his complete and utter burn-out and disdain towards his patients.

There exists no other excuse for the way he behaves and allows his staff to conduct themselves.

My sister was treated in exactly the same manner by said "doctor" and "staff" and her condition is thoroughly visible and lab test verifiable as it is severe rheumatoid arthritis accompanied by the expected joint destruction..

Frustrating as it may be for the doctor to have nothing new to offer I can't imagine them being any more frustrated than we are that they have nothing else to give. So we are in pain, frustrated and we aren't collecting a paycheck to make it worth our while.

I do agree that the answer to our condition does not lie in the drugs the Rheumatologist has in their arsenal.  There is an underlying reason for our immune system to have turned on itself and masking symptoms does nothing to fix the underlying issues.  Usually it just "muddies" the water making it move difficult to feel better.

Being diagnosed with/treated for estrogen dominance and thyroid disease, eliminating all NSAID use, becoming educated on my improper diet (too many carbs and sugar) and making the lifestyle changes were the key to giving me a much better quality of life.

I got to this better place by working very closely with a Naturopathic Physician who was endlessly patient with the multiple conditions and symptoms I presented her with.

I do agree that the physicians are "lost" and "frustrated" in treating our condition.  I also believe that their frustration would be better aimed at the Health Insurance Scam that is keeping them trapped in treating symptoms with whatever latest drug the giant pharmaceutical company is hawking.

My doctor is Dr. Tina Marcantel @[masked]-0211.  My insurance does reimburse for some of her services, but only after the huge out of network deductible is met.

I am very sorry to hear of the way in which you were treated so unprofessionally. It is however very refreshing how another found such a caring, understanding physician like doctor Crowely. This is the real world of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue patients.

Understand, your condition is a work in frustration for most physicians. Even as a chiropractor I have been working with your conditions since 1990 when the first research paper on Fibromyalgia was published through the American College of Rheumatology. It was and still is a struggle. At least I have been able to find a successful way with the help of Dr. St. Amand MD and his protocol to help patients who are so frustrated with these conditions. Notice, I said "conditions". No Fibromyalgia or CFS patient just has a single condition. ALL of you have multiple conditions which makes it extremely frustrating for most physicians to work with you.

Alopathic physicians, MD's, DO's, etc. are trained in their schools to diagnose through objective testing such as xrays, MRI's, Blood chem, etc. As you probably know Fibromyalgia patients are notorious for negative tests. Those that come back positive are for your "other" conditions. Your doctors treat the other conditions but are lost except for "drugs" that they prescribe for symptoms that often do not work or have worse side affects than your existing condition. With all due respect, your physicians are lost and frustrated with a condition that is only symptom based. Does that sound familiar to you? It should.

The best thing about the patients that e-mailed in is that they are unable to take Savella, Cymbalta,Lyrica, etc. They are not your answer. If anything you will have a temporary placebo response followed by a return of symptoms and possible worse based upon what my patients tell me.

So what is a chiropractor doing treating patients with these conditions? What if I told you that chiropractic treatment will not cure your condition. It will definitely help many of your secondary conditions such as ostearthritis, and other conditions involving spinal problems but will only give you some symptomatic relief to your Fibro/CFS conditions.

My suggestions: Get off of sugar, gluten and transfatty acid foods. They are all inflammatory and YOU have an inflammatory condition. Get on the internet and look up Dr R. Paul St. Amand MD and his protocol for your condition. With the permission of Dr. St. Amand I have added a few pre-protocol suggestions that they have whole-heartedly accepted. This protocol really works and I have the numerous patient letters as proof. You don't hear very much about this protocol because it does not involve pharmaceuticals. Therefore, doctors are not making a lot of money off of this protocol. As a side note, Dr. St. Amand does have Fibromyalgia and is still working in his 80's. A few more suggestions: Injest fish oil, omega-3. How much? at least 3000mg. of EPA which is the natural anti inflammatory in fish and a minimum of 2000mg. of DHA fish oil which stimulates brain fibers to get you out of your "fibro fog".

There is so much more I have to help you with but a least this is a beginning of a new pain free life for you.

Best wishes and blessing to all of you. Your condition is not hopeless.
