Thursday Evening "silent" Meditation

  • May 10, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This Thursday evening meditation group has been meeting for more than three years. It is free of charge but has built an interesting reputation as being a gruling and difficult three hour meditation where people sit without moving, in pain and agony while waitng for the bell to ring.

The truth is that while some do stay for the entire three hours, others simply come and meditate for an hour or so, and then move on with the rest of their evening. This group has been called the "long sit" simply because it contains the opportunity for one to sit in meditation for a long period of time if desired to do so.

People can leave at any time they choose, but we do ask that you arrive before the 7:00 pm bell. In this particular meditation room, it is easy to leave quietly but difficult to arrive quietly. So come a little early.

During the meditation people do quietly move about and use the rest room, change positions from sitting to standing or move to sit in a chair. You do not have to remain frozen.

This is a great oppertunity to sit in silence with others. There are no teachings and no words spoken from 7-10:00 pm. this aspect of complete silence is very appealing to many who just wish to meditate in stillness with others in exchange of silent energy.

[if you need meditation instruction please see 'Wednesday evening meditation in the calender' or click here]

Please try this meditation. Sit for as long as you like. You can quietly leave when you like.

cushions are available, or you can bring your own for comfort.

See you !
