Winter Hike - Millbrook Ridge Trail- Minnewaska Lake- Awosting Falls

Scenic Intermediate Hike - our favorite in New York Area.

Easily accessible by public transportation: bus

Millbrook Ridge Trail -Minnewaska Lake- Awosting Falls- Trapps Road.

It takes 5-7 hours.

Difficulty level: moderate

See photos from our hike in March 2013:

It is very scenic, diverse, a bit steep in the beginning and then gets easier and easier. It takes 3.5 - 4.5 hours to get to Lake Minnewaska. Then we have lunch at the lake and come back on flat Trapps Road (about 2.5 hours)

After the hike we can enjoy beers and snacks at Bacchus that offers over 400 kinds of beers from all over the world.

I suggest 3 options:

1. We can meet at New Paltz bus station 10:00am

2. Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center at 10:30 am

3. You can come to New Paltz the night before (Sat) and stay at New Paltz hostel

If you don't drive- it is super easy to get to New Paltz by bus.

Take Trailways bus from Port Authority. It takes 1.5 hours, runs every 30 min and drops you at New Patlz bus station.

From New Paltz bus station we carpool to the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center.

Looking forward to seeing/meeting you all.

    We have 16 people going.

Guys, please, check if you have microspikes or yaktrax- it is a requirement for the hike.

You will not be able to hike if you don't have it. In case you did not get a chance to get it -you still have time to buy it in any mountain store (EMS, REI, etc...)

We have triple checked with Mohonk Preserve and verified that no snowshoes are necessary for the hike.

We have 2 spots left in our van. If you are interested in getting the spot - please submit $40 payment using paypal: [masked]

We are meeting at 8a.m. at 35st & 10th ave on Sunday morning.

Looking forward to seeing you all,

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
