Trained as a deep-sea diver by the military in his native Norway, Børge Ousland is living proof that people can still achieve historic firsts in exploration. The first person to cross Antarctica solo and unsupported with resupply, Ousland more recently completed the first ever sea crossing of the Northwest and Northeast Passages in a single season. In 2011, he led an expedition to Antarctica to mark the anniversary of Amundsen’s conquest of the South Pole. Journey with him to the Poles through his bigger-than-life images, video, stories, and adventures.

------

If you put the word "desert" as a code when ordering your tickets 10% of your ticket price will go to support the garden located next to the Mesa Arts Center.

We will meet for dinner prior to the event at 5:30 and I will post this as a separate event.  But I am looking for suggestions since I have never been to anything in that area.  After dinner we will go to the Mesa Arts Center to meet anyone attending who did not want to attend dinner.  Because tickets are assigned at purchase we will not be able to sit together.  But I will be buying a ticket in price zone 2 for myself.

Is anyone interested in meeting in the lobby prior to the event? Lets say between 7 and 7:10 near the door closest to the box office at the north end. I have long brown hair and am short.

I bought the 3 tickets - we are in price zone 2 the upper left section of seats. People are still welcome to join us. There are tons of seats in the top two rows in that section of seats where we got tickets.

I will be buying 3 tickets for myself, Leana, and Sarah by Thursday of this week. Meetup would not let me do paypal (likely an organizer thing) so I had to do it externally. If you want to sit with us e-mail me very soon. The total comes to $39.44 with venue and paypal fees.

I will bring you cash at happy hour Friday.

I just called the ticket office and they said the event likely won't sell out but if we buy the tickets the day of the event we may not be able to sit together. So it looks like I have time to accept payment and get seats together. I will definitely buy the tickets the week before the event if there is no more movement on this RSVP list. But if you don't mind not sitting with others it looks like you may be able to buy tickets at the door.

  • Lisa

Okay then we are back to buying our own and sitting alone.

Ladies... I decided that I want my son's to see this movie too, so I will be buying my tickets separately and sitting with them.... Hope you guys have a great night. :)

I could change the meetup to collect a payment but then everyone will have to sit in the section I pick (zone 2) and ticket prices will be more expensive because I would charge you the fee that paypal will charge me. Plus it will only be for the 4 of us signed up right now. I will call to see if I can talk to a live person. Maybe the event is nowhere near being sold out.

This sounds amazing! I heard about this series at the Mesa Arts Center on NPR, but I thought the tickets were much more expensive. I'd really love to go. Is there any way we can purchase the tickets so we can sit together? From what I've heard, this National Geographic series is a really awesome way to "see" areas that you haven't explored yourself.

    Ok, thanks. Sounds cool.

I will have to see how many people want to come to the event so I can't say it is confirmed right now. I also don't have a place in mind. I asked a few friends if they want to go to the talk and if I don't hear from them on Monday I will just buy myself a ticket. I suggest calling them to see if they think it may sell out. I would have no idea. I found out about it through the Desert Botanical Garden newsletter.

Is the dinner confirmed? Let me know I would be interested in attending the dinner as well. Can I just purchase my ticket that night or is there concern it might sell out?
