For March we are lucky enough to be going to Zappone's Italian Bistro, and here is the food and wine pairing:
*Ruffino Prosecco, Italy – really clean, not too sweet, very creamy
~Paired with house made Bruschetta (Caprese & Zucchini/Ricotta)
*Villa Pozzi Pinot Grigio, Italy – light, floral, very easy drinking
~Paired with the Casa Salad (Arugula, Shaved Fennel, Apple, Candied Walnuts, Gorgonzola, w/ Balsamic Vinaigrette
*Polvaro Veneto Nero, Italy (Cab, Merlot, Syrah) – light with beautiful fruit and body, complex layering of flavors
~Paired with the Enzo Pizza (Fennel Sausage, Caramelized Onions, Mozzarella, Marinara)
*Chateau St. Michelle Indian Wells Red Blend, Washington (60% Merlot, 28% Syrah, Cab, Cab Franc) – very rich, flavors of anise and dried berry, nice oak
~Paired with Fettucini Bolognese
*Villa Pozzi Cabernet, Sicily – a lighter Cabernet, smooth with cherry and boysenberry, nice finish
~Paired with Eggplant Rollatini
Zappone’s makes all their own sauces and bakes their own bread. The only Bolognese and Eggplant Rollatini I have had that compared to this was at Tutti Santi, and you know how we loved events at that place (but they’re gone now L). I’ve also had the Casa salad and the Enzo pizza and both are yummy. As you all know I taste the wines for our events and I think you’ll be pleased with the choices and the pairings.
See you there,
The cost is $28.00, which is all inclusive.
