For the September wine event - since it's MY BIRTHDAY, we'll be going to Zappone's for a special event featuring Tana's favorites - Central Coast Wines from California.
*Heirloom Tomato Salad with Polenta Croutons, Shallot Dijon Vinaigrette
~Paired with - Badge "Blue Steel" 2010 Chardonnay, Santa Barbara Co. - stainless steel fermented Chardonnay has notes of golden apple, citrus and pineapple with a creamy
texture, balanced minerality and lively acidity.
*Homemade Butternut Squash Ravioli in a Sage Cream Sauce
~Paired with - Summerland Solomon Hills Pinot Noir - bright, intense fruit with pronounced black cherry and raspberry character that carries through into the finish.
*Chicken Saltimbocca (prosciutto, sage, smoked provolone) with Roasted Red Potatoes
~Paired with - Fess Parker Syrah - rich, complex, full-bodied wine with layers of berry, cherry, cassis, clove, spice, earth and toast.
*Dark Chocolate Tiramisu
~Paired with - Daou 2008 Old Vine Zin, Lodi - nose offers aromatic floral notes combined with vanilla & fresh red and black fruits. Red currants, strawberries & crushed raspberries coat the mouth. Spice notes, medium acidity & some tannins complete this concentrated Zinfandel.
Starting this event a little earlier in order to maximize the fun, but if you can't get there till 6:30, it doesn't matter - all you'll miss is a little of the 'happy hour' :)
