The East Bay WordPress April Meetup

We will review new features in the WordPress v2.7x release as well as exciting new plugins and themes. We can also discuss customizing and skinning themes. We'll discuss different ways of using WordPress ranging from a personal blog to a personal resume/portfolio to corporate site to a social networking community. And finally we can have an open Q&A section. And if more than 8 people attend the event, we'll raffle off a FREE 4 gigabyte Cruical Memory USB Thumbdrive.

Please note the meetup location is open to change if people would rather meet in Oakland rather than Alameda. Please drop me a note about your preference.

I enjoyed the meetup very much. Thanks to Sallie for facilitating! The skill and experience of the attendees has been so varied that I wonder if there might be a need to plan future meetings to either include topics for both groups, or if there are enough people, to split the group in half, maybe like at wordcamp - developers and bloggers. Maybe at the next meeting we can pick some topics for future meetings, and people who know about the topics can volunteer to teach or speak about them whether the group is split or not.

I got a lot of great information. It may be more valuable if you offer one for beginners and one for more advanced people.

I thought I managed adequately as substitute organizer, and I think we covered the topic of themes fairly well, but we lost some time in the beginning to problems with the settings on the monitor. Remember it's Video 7 if you use the VGA cable, which is all they supply at Rhythmix. Note to self: buy S-video or HDMI cable. Note to Noel: make sure to take time to let people show their sites at the next meeting, because we didn't have time today.

Very good meeting. Sallie did a very good job of filling in for Noel who could not be there. I will need the help of an experienced developer to set up my blog and two of them gave me their cards. Lori and Sallie ended the session by noting the WordPress camp being held next month. It was an excellent first WordPress experience for me, and I have no WordPress experience

Way too much emphasis and time spent on artiser.com. This was supposed to be a WordPress meetup, not artiser. Info was too advanced for most attendees, but redundant for advanced users like me. It would have been helpful if skill level was indicated on conference invite- I would've skipped this one and attended something higher level.

It was nice to meet other WP users and prospective clients. Sallie was knowledgeable and cool but got a little flustered at times. She needs to maintain the groups' focus on a single topic and not let us get sidetracked. There are WAY too many details in this process to address each one. Frustrating to watch!
