Custom Post Types and Custom Taxonomies

Custom post types and custom taxonomies make it possible to build more complex sites with WordPress...but they're not that easy to use out of the box. We'll have an overview of what they are and some plugins that help you create and manage them, and then some members of the Meetup will demonstrate ways they've used these features of WordPress.

As always, you'll have a chance to introduce yourself and to ask general questions about WordPress, and we should have time for open networking afterwards. Bring business cards if you have them.

Really great information and demos on custom post types, custom taxonomies, and custom fields from Lou Anne McKeefery, Anca Mosiou, and Michael Enslow. I'm excited to go out and do more exploring.

As a "user" of WP, it was very insightful to see the backend of some relatively complicated structures that WP is capable of. Lots of focused questions from people obviously looking to learn more, and improve their own professional skill set. Teaching & tinkering at the same time, with other people contributing and collaborating to solve problems and answer questions.
