BuddyPress and bbPress

bbPress is the forum plugin created by the WordPress team--it runs the WordPress support forums, and it can run forums on your website, too. Integrates seamlessly with single or multi-site installations and conforms to any theme.

BuddyPress is a social network in a box for your WordPress site. Create user groups, discussion forums, extended user profiles, activity streams, friend connections, private messaging, member blogs, and more. Check out the BuddyPress Showcase for some examples.

Join us and see how far these tools have come since we last discussed them, back in August 2010.

If you have a BuddyPress or bbPress site you want to show off, e-mail sallie [at] eastbaywp [dot] com and I'll add you to the agenda.

As usual, we'll have our open Q&A time before the main presentation.

Anyone who wants to provide consumables for the event will get their logo displayed with a link on our Meetup site and on our web page.

The two are pretty robust. Good to know the differences.

Such a huge topic, but we got some good tips and links, and it was nice to see two very different use cases for BuddyPress. Good also to think about the non-technical considerations before setting up a forum or community.

Great speakers - appreciated they had working BuddyPress sites implemented to share with you.
