The Northwest Council of Camera Clubs is committed to serving its member clubs with inspiration, encouragement and above all, education. In partnership with the Seattle Mountaineers, we have developed a full day of education: from taking images as a news photographer, to improving your images using simple enhancing techniques, and Blacklight Magic. Visit our web site www.nwcameraclubs.org to learn more about us.
TOPICS AND PRESENTERS
A day in the life of a News photographer with emphasis on Street Photographypresenter Grant M. Haller
Learn how to create beautiful Black & White images from your digital files. Basic conversions can be made with Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom and truly stunning prints can be rendered with 3rd-party add-ons such as nik software’s Silver Efex Pro. Breathe new life into a less than stunning colour photo by converting it to black and white. This session will provide a basic overview of the process, tools and issues to consider.
The Creative Side of Digital Photography presenter Dave Johanson
Dave’s premise is that any photograph can be artistically improved through careful editing, and should be! However, beyond these basic kinds of improvements, there are many other considerations to enhancing the artistic value of your image through the incorporation of basic wet darkroom techniques to applying various creative digital manipulations via plug-ins. Dave will be walking through the steps to create many different types of images, from simple adjustments to totally creative images, starting with the initial shot, jumping to the final ouput, and then taking you through all the steps in-between. Along with the wet darkroom approach, he will be demonstrating plug-ins from 5 different companues (Redfield, Topaz, nik, Adobe Labs, and Imagenomic) employing the application of layers, masks, blending modes, and opacity variations. As many folks seem to find layers and masking difficult, Dave will povide a solid grounding in the use of both.
