Eastside Games with Friends Weekly Meetup

Welcome to our weekly playgroup!

We are a fun group of people who enjoy getting together to act foolish, make jokes, talk trash, laugh, and play games. Because of the spontaneous nature of our group, we usually show up not knowing what we're going to play. Some days we end up playing just "our faves". The truth is that we'll play any game if someone brings it and convinces us we want to learn how to play it. It's not about what types of games we play, it's that we play games.

We have games starting at various times until 8 with people arriving at various intervals as well. (We are usually able to stay until 9:30 to finish games.)  There really isn't any reason that you can't get into a game no matter when you arrive.

Bonus Round at Denny's!

"Party on" til the "wee hours" of the morning! We have the back room from 8:30pm-ish, but really 9pm. We've been promised our own server - and she's "like totally awesome!" - we love her! (until we're settled, thanks to Manager Dave)

We had a great time playing Power Grid: Australia! Many thanks to Amelia for taking the Power Grid plunge.

In the future I will make sure that all the uranium mines (nuke plants) are in the available power plants, as having only three gave those who got one a huge advantage. Also, I need to review the rules about Sydney and Melbourne; the German rules seem to say that you can have one house in each half of those cities.

Best quote of the evening: "I hate the term 'cat barf', but that was CAT BARF!" --Not Dave, after seeing a crappy power plant replace the really good one someone had just bought

It was a very fun game! I would play it again or another country, and I promise next time I won't take so long now that I have some idea of strategy. Thanks for introducing me to it.

I had a blast playing Union Pacific and Hanabi, singing about Qat barph, and being my general silly self. ;)

Banking for Power Grid is a full-time job. Even with poker chips.

At the moment I see 2 games starting up to play rather early. Power Grid Australia with Rob and Mike B, so far - can pay up to six, but that might be too crazy - up to Rob. TransAmerica with Paul Lanza and me, so far - also plays up to six.

I'll be there a bit early to set up; when we start depends on how quickly we have a quorum. (Note: The Australia map only has five regions. It is possible to have six players but you can imagine how crowded things would get.)

A quorum........ all in favor of playing Power Grid will signify by saying "aye".

(stupid phone) _like_ Power Grid. ;)

Power Gridophiles: I have the new Australia/India map, and I'm eager to try it out. Anyone interested, please let me know. I'm willing to start a little early (say, 5:30). Both maps are pretty strange--a significant departure from the usual game.
